How to prevent crash at startposition?

Featured Replies

Most of time if I'll start Fly!2 (inclusive all of ROTW) for example at Nantes-airport (France) there is a crash with another dynamic aircraft model at startposition and my own aircraft is damaged. How can I prevent this buggy behaviour? My workarround is setting "Computer Controller Aircraft = 0" at "Scenery Options".At Discussion forum I foundhttp://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...16&hl=crashbut this will not help me.Greetings Werner

Werner,I have often had this difficulty, but do enjoy flying formation with the dynamic aircraft. I did think that a work-around could be done, while continuing to use dynamic acft, by changing the start position of dynamic acft. It seems to be that it is when they start taxiing that they crash into the acft you are flying. Have you tried changing the start position. I would be very interested to know if you have any success.Cheers,Brian.

Hallo Brian,I think, if I could change startposition of my own aircraft, the change will be valid for dynamic aircrafts too.Another workarround for me is with unmark "Realism Options/ Detect Collisions". Now it looks very funny when the dynamic aircrafts starts inside my aircraft, but when it rolls toward taxiway my own aircraft is not damaged.Greetings Werner

Hi Werner - one trick to try is to use Peter Jacobson's Taxiway program and make a small edit to the airport in question... Make a small taxiway strip and place a start and a stop position on that (need three or four vertex points) - save and try. I've had good success with this method by creating my own start/stop spots in front of a hangar and rarely if ever, have had a crash problem with AI AC.Hope this helps! Cheers,Ken

Hallo Ken,perhaps I'm to stupid for the taxiway program but I can not change existing LFRS.tms and LFRS.bgr files with this program. I will not create Nantes-airport once more, I only want to change the startposition of my aircraft and nothing else.GreetingsWerner

Hi Werner,I will take a look at it Sunday and see if I can make the modifications for you. Are you using an ROZTW scenery, or the stock version, and depending upon which, where would you like the start position to be? Will be happy to see if I can make the "fix" for you.Greetings!Ken

Hallo Ken!Thank you for your offer to help me. I use all the ROTW-sceneries of France. A startposition at Nantes somewhere NE of default startposition will be fine.Greetings! [email protected]

Hello everybody,It is not necessary (= unuseful) to change starting point from taxiaway as real and virtual/dynamic aircraft use the same point. It was a default from Fly!IIThe best way is to use FlyStart from Allen Kriesman (flystart.zip)I can send you by mail : give me your adress by private message.

[Description]This application is a front-end for the Fly II simulator. It allows youto set a variety of parameters that will affect the Fly II startup sequence.Including: (1) Sets the startup airport. (2) Sets the startup aircraft. (3) Engine autostart on/off. (4) Optionally selects and copies a replacement SKIES.INI file. (5) Optionally selects and copies a replacement RENDER.INI file. (6) Optionally selects and copies a replacement CAMERA.SAV file.

Hallo Didier, how can I prevent crash at startposition with the use of Flystart from Allen Kriesmann?Greetings!Werner

Sorry Werner, that was not the right tool. Aniway don't change anything in taxiway. Its' Flystart dll !! (fsdll.zip) and you can use it with VolNav

FlyStart DLL For Fly II Version 1.0 By Allen Kriesman Overview: The FlyStart DLL (FLYSTART.DLL) is a simple, but useful, tool for saving and retrieving aircraft startup positions. Aircraft positions are saved by pressing the defined “Save” position keystroke (Alt-S by default). These saved aircraft positions can be loaded later by pressing the defined “Load” position keystroke (Alt-L by default). You can define one “Save” position keystroke for each airport in Fly II. Both the aircraft location and orientation are saved. The FlyStart DLL application is not directly associated with the FlyStart application by the same author. You can use either or both applications. The will, however, work together very nicely.

Didier,That is great news you have that FLYSTART.DLL / FSDLL.ZIP will enable changes to be made to the aircraft start position. Collisions with dynamic acft have always bothered me. When I do an AVSIM library search for this file I cannot find it.Do you have a download ID to get this .dll from the AVSIM file library? Is there any other way I can get this file if it is no longer in the library?Cheers, Brian.

I have downloaded all Fly! and Fly!! files (almost)!!Send me your email adress in private messageDidier

Is it possible to set number of starting (departing) dynamic models = 0 without changing number of available models in Fly!2As I feared in my earlier posting changing of startposition does not prevent crash.

Werner,I have only found it possible to have maximum of one departing dynamic acft at a time. Have you ever had more displayed? I have certainly changed the total number of available dynamic acft by removing or adding acft to/from the ACGENRIC.POD and by adding/removing detailed flyable acft pods to/from the AIRCRAFT folder. By removing acft it makes it easier to have a specific acft appear as a departing dynamic. As I understand it, if you set dynamic=0 you get no dynamic acft, taxiing or flying.Have you tried using fsdll.zip to change the start position? What success?Brian.

Hallo Didier, Hallo Brian, the tool Flystart DLL will not help me. With this tool I only can change startposition after start of Fly!2. Because the dynamic acft is positioned when Fly!2 starts, it has already crashed my aircraft. And what use is it then to move a damaged aircraft?I want to set the number of >departing< dynamic acft=0 (not =2 or more) especially at Nantes airport in ROTW scenery, but I don't know where to look for it.Greetings!Werner
