August 7, 201015 yr Hello everyone,I'm really puzzuled right now. I'm upgrading my rig for FSX, I have a Ati 4580 right now and I'm buying a new card. At first I was decided on the Ati 5850 but then it went off sale and I'm not sure which would play FSX better in terms of FP/S the Nvidia 46GTX or 460GTX or should I just go for the ATi 5850? I have one 19'' monitor (1024 x 1280) And if I should go for the Nvidia card which is a better deal for the performance? Thanksluckyman

August 8, 201015 yr Thanks for the reply, just wondering how it performs better in FSX when the card has slower specs that the 5850?
August 9, 201015 yr Thanks for the reply, just wondering how it performs better in FSX when the card has slower specs that the 5850?FSX seems to favor Nvidia due to the way FSAA is handled among other things. Some ATI users have reported issues with FSAA and shimmering on objects. The GTX 460 is also cheaper, IIRC.The GTX 460 OC's very well too from what I hear, and if you ever decide to run mulitple cards, SLI scales better than CFX. August 11, 201015 yr Commercial Member In many ways the GTX460 is a perfect card for FSX. Since it can be overclocked, you can tune it to match your CPU. Plus it runs cool and quiet. Anyway, I agree that FSX favors nVidia but using the right (Bojote) tweaks you can get an ATI card to play nice.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125333&cm_re=gigabyte_460-_-14-125-333-_-ProductAlso, unless you run multi monitors, you probably don't need SLI.jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
