My FSX install is corrupt - I have no way to install it, no activation key so I limp along and need to restart every 30 minutes. When my SSD dies it will be all over. But I'll be hanged if I have to use P3D. LOL jja

Sweet driver - 2X970S SLI, FSX DX10 WSTEVESFIXES, 4K 55OLED. Probably the only driver I've seen in recent history that appears to have made an improvement. Also with a new Microsoft Flight Simulator 10 profile. Still use NI with 8xS Combined AA and 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling. cheers jja

2 970's with a nice factory OC working well here. Relatively fast, quiet and don't take up a lot of space. The nv x70's series has always been a great, cost-effective fit for simmers. Cheers jja

A good remedy (even with LOD 7.5) is to run FSX at a REALTIME OS priority. Everything else at Normal. The silver bullet would be to get fully resolved textures near the threshold. Running 1/2 sim rate is a good measure in tough spots like metro areas. Cheers jja

FSX DX10 with Steve's DX10 fixer app is very good. I would not go back to straight FSX because the water is so much better. Still getting ready to pull the trigger on P3D 3 but some of the issues users report are concerning yet I'm sure it will prevail. Regards

Assign FSX all the cores but 1 (usually the first) and don't try to micro-manage ASN. I wrote FSXAssist for that. Clouds have always been a big FPS / smoothness hit except on my current build with 2 970s in SLI. As a matter of fact, since I went SLI a few years ago, clouds no longer cause stutters. Also I use REX soft clouds. Regards jja

Good info - I have SC versions of the 970 with good results. While I don't do P3D yet I finally got a system that can run the F1 Mustang so I'm going to get back into it. The frustrations I have are due to overloaded scenery area like KORS where I can no longer land or take off without a crash about 10 miles out. I did notice that UT2 did have millions of AI loaded last time so will reduce that and try again. Like any hobby you got to spend time to be active. The good thing, unlike model railroading is that the visuals / situation are constantly in motion and so I never get bored. The technical challenges are good for keeping the brain cells active also.
