[FSX] - Looking for Wind Turbine Object(s)

Featured Replies

Good day, designers - I'm searching for some FSX library objects for scenery improvements. I am working on some general "area" scenery improvements up in the Lake Champlain valley of VT/NY, and on the hills to the west of the lake a fairly large set of wind farms has sprouted up in the past several years. These monster turbines are visible for miles and miles, and I'd like to add them into the FSX scenery world, preferably via Instant Scenery. They don't necessarily have to rotate into the wind, but I would like them to be somehow animated so that the huge 400' diameter blades are moving as eerily slow as they do in real life. Has anyone seen any turbine library objects which might be suitable for this use? Thanks kindly,-Greg

FSX has it's own wind turbine and there is one available for use at FS Developer, under the Downloads section.

The FSX one apparently is not animated - you can find it in the hazards.bgl - gen_windmill01.That file is in your Scenery\Global\scenery subfolder.

Thanks for the pointers, gentlemen - I fetched the turbine off of FSDeveloper and I'll give it a shot tonight.-Greg

Thanks again - the one at FSDeveloper worked well. I may need to try my hand at designing one myself to better match the actual turbines installed up there, but unless you've visited, you'd never know the difference. Cheers and thanks,-Greg
