Power settings for RA SF260

Featured Replies

Greetings Everyone!I purchased the RealAir SF260 and I'm having a blast with it.I'm tryng to figure out what the power settings are for cruise and getting into slow flight. The manual is nice, but not very helpful. (Unless I'm looking at the wrong manual)The only settings that I see are the prop set at 2400 for climb/cruise.I'm practicing "Pattern B" and one of the requirements is to transition into slowflight. Slowflight for the SF260 is 90kts. I'd apprciate any information anyone has about the correct manifold and RPM settings. Thanks a bunch.-Matt

The POH is available at http://avialogs.com/ (and many! others)http://avialogs.com/aircrafts-technical-manuals-and-guides/siai-marchetti/siai-marchetti-sf-260/(in italian, but the graphs and performance tables should mostly be intelligible. I didn't download anything since they switched to Facebook log-in though.)Max recommended cruise is MP 23-24 inHg 2400-2500 rpm with lean mixture (2700 rpm/no MP limitation with rich mixture). This is consistent with RA manual which states MP 23.5/2400 rpm for max cruise. For 90 KIAS just reduce MP (probably to around 12 inHg depending on altitude ect.). Just leave prop at max (or cruise) as rpm will drop as governor will not be able to maintain set rpm.Gunter
