Three days and still no key file.
Greetings, I had to re-submit my activation due to a change in my system ID when I replaced my hard drive. I submitted my request exactly like I did when I first purchased the product. Instead of getting a key file I got a response stating that I needed to add my serial key, which according to the email I got about activation isn't required. I added my serial key and since sent multiple requests with no response. I've been keeping an eye on my email so I've been ensuring that nothing from MCE is added to the SPAM inbox. Why would getting a key take so long? I'm sending the requests directly from the online mail server application, so I'm not sure if the registration process is getting it. Just double checked the mail server and the emails are going to "register AT multicrewxp DOT com"

MCE Registration key quit working.
Greetings, I'm not sure why, but when I fired up MCE this morning I got the message pop-up that my trail version was over. Then MCE connects to FSX and states "Ready to Go!" When I try to get clearance all I hear is the co-pilot saying something. I'm hearing impaired so I can't make out what he says. I think it might be something about the registration. I deleted the key in the install dir "D:\program...\Multi..." and replaced it, but still have the same issue. I tried running as admin but same thing. UAC is off. I'd appreciate any feedback about this. Thanks, -Matt Actually I replaced the system drive with an SSD. So that changed the system ID. Need to reactivate.

No Activation Key
Greetings, I've sent the following request: 716746807 ! Matthew ! Merrill However, I think there may be a problem with this request since I think I've had problems with this before. When I first got RC4 I think my email address was [email protected]. Now that it's changed to M a tt merrill AT c om cas t DOT NET I think the system either sends to the wrong email or fails on the request. is there any way to find out if this is the case? Thanks, -Matt

Changing the squelch to add a "Huston Control" type beep.
Greetings, I'm nearly deaf so when things get rolling I can't distinguish the squelch sound when I press and hold my MCE button to speak. Is it possible for me to add a tone to the beginning and end of the squelch? I know FSUIPC has the ability to provide press and release functionality to a button. I'm just wondering if that's possible with MCE. Thanks, -Matt

New User: MCE+PF3 = Super-Duper-Uber-Frustration
Greetings Gerald, Thanks for the reply. Agreed. On the same token large amounts of documentation can be daunting. End users rarely RTFM, and I'm no stranger to that. It's good to know that PF3 is fully supported. There are a few issues that I'm dealing with that makes the integration within my personal flightsim culture difficult. 1. ATC has always been a button input my entire sim career. So it's no wonder to me that I became severely frustrated when I tried to change that. It didn't integrate well with me due to such a dynamic change. This will require training. 2. I didn't fully understand MCE's integration with FSX and PFE. Again a huge change that I didn't recognize as needing more in-depth training. Being in the first quarter of the 21st century we've become quite dependent on intuitive software. I'm not saying MCE isn't, just the expectation of end users can be unrealistic at times. (I'm really pointing the finger at me here) So in essence it's about training and understanding the operations. That's where I was really getting frustrated. Starter's suggestion about doing some flights first at level V3 with PF3 was a very good idea. After 3 or 4 fights I understand now what's expected for different states and situations. I did the training multiple times and added words to the MCE custom dictionary that I thought it was having difficulties with. It's a just a matter of sorting out now what works for me and what doesn't. Since I'm nearly deaf I tend to slur my words so if MCE doesn't recognize a phrase I add to the Windows custom dictionary to ensure the VR understands my pronunciations. Again, I appreciate your input about MCE and PF3. I'm looking forward to getting proficient with both. -Matt

New User: MCE+PF3 = Super-Duper-Uber-Frustration
Hi starter, Thanks for taking the time to respond. I found my first issue was how I represented my GA Piper PA-128 in PF3. By giving it a "Piper" designation as an airline I think it caused serious issues with MCE thinking it wasn't a GA aircraft. Once I removed that and just gave it a call-sign of "six Delta Lima" most of the garbage response was resolved. There are still some problems though. When airborne I can't find any way to request a position report with an altimeter setting. The only thing that works is if I physically press the "9" hotkey. Overall the documentation for PF3 is non-existent. Although there is a document for PFE, it's really hit or miss using it. The document itself is difficult to use. I find it frustrating that they have good documentation and examples for FSX and RC4, but nothing really for PFE/3. To be fair to the MCE developers, their site has nothing stating that it works with PF3. So I'm actually working with something that is technically not supported. I'll try your recommendation about using VC(x) to get a feel for PF3. I appreciate the input. I'm still confused about the readback to the controller. How do we know that the readback is correct for delivery? Or if we can move on to the next controller or contact ground? I'm finding that pretty frustrating as well. Anyway, thanks again. -Matt

New User: MCE+PF3 = Super-Duper-Uber-Frustration
Ok, I see in a previous thread that if MCE can't recognize if it's GA or Airliner then it'll have issues with parsing and can cause sill (or garbage) callbacks. I'll see if I can pinpoint what MCE is trying to establish.

New User: MCE+PF3 = Super-Duper-Uber-Frustration
Greetings, A little history; after 5+ years I've decided to start using an external ATC program once again. After doing some research it seemed to me that MCE+PF3 was a good combination. One reason I picked MCE was due to ATC and VR. Using FSCrew and Majestic DASH8 I figured it couldn't be bad. I'm running into problems that are killing me. Testing these products is very time consuming and difficult. As an example I started yesterday morning at 5AM and finally quit near midnight. (Now that's a dedicated flight simmer) 1. MCE VR seems way off and unable to recognize simple requests; I'm assuming - after reading some other posts - that MCE is expecting a specific phrase during a specific state. However, reading the documentation there's supposedly multiple ways to same the same thing. Using something like "Say again" has half a dozen examples. The only one that would work occasionally is "say again please". When requesting takeoff from tower the "Request" would result in "West IFR Clearance" or something odd like that, After which tower would send be back to ground for another odd reason. It's obvious to me that the VR is just not working for me. I've done the training within Windows and MCE multiple times. I've tested my voice and VR using FS2Crew and haven't run into problems there. So I'm going to have to conclude that MCE's VR is somehow not recognizing a correct phrase. How can this be tested without having to fire up all the applications and running through each state? It's awfully time consuming doing it that way. 2. Feedback from controller. This part I don't think I fully understand. Let's say Delivery gives me a clearance and I read it back. Am I expected to hear something like "Read back correct. Contact blah blah blah" ? Is there supposed to be ack or feeback from controllers at all? This is enough for now. After a few days of this I'm quite frustrated and don't want to rant and rave. Thanks for any input about this. -Matt

Can anyone shed some light on FSMap?
I know this is an old thread, but wanted to add my thoughts as well; FSMap is a moving map application that can be used as an internal gauge or using the application itself. I think this application is a real class act. The developer (Thomas Molitor) is a very professional programmer with many years of experience. You can see that with the quality of his work compared to other add-on's. FS Flight Keeper is another application that he wrote that is top notch. I find that the internal gauge to the cockpit is much more feature rich than the desktop application. Myself I use the desktop application to troubleshoot issues with loading maps. You can use any map that you find off the internet for whatever area you fly in. You will be required to set up your maps to use with FS. However, there are a lot of exported maps that people have set up and shared. So it should be easy to find VFR/IFR/General Operations maps for you favorite location. Thomas does not program FS add-ons for money as the primary reason. He develops when he has the time. So there are long stretches of time between updates. He's usually very good at responding to questions on his support forum. I'd recommend this application along with FS Flight Keeper. Both are written well and feature rich. 5 out of 4 stars to be sure. Thanks, -Matt

Looking for a good 7" LCD touchscreen
Greetings, I have two 10" touchscreen monitors but their screen quality is bad. Washed, faded and just don't look very good. I use them for the FS Flight Keeper ACARS and FSMap component. I was wondering if anyone has used good 7" LCD touchscreens that you could recommend. I appreciate any input. Thanks, -Matt

Driving 5+ monitors on the same rig
MattM1121 replied to MattM1121's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcAh yes, I missed that. I was expecting the same type of card. Ok, so you have two different cards. That's good. I'll keep my HD 78xx with the 390. I'm hoping to get better performance with multiple 3D window views. I can't use the H2GO series since I only have 36 inch wide set up. (It's under the stairs) I purchased the 390 today along with a new 1000w PS. The 600w PS just won't cut it. I'm also going to test a 7" LCD touchscreen with FSFK ACARS and the FSMap inflight moving map. I'm hoping it'll be sharp enough to look good. That's a very nice pit you have BTW. Something to be jealous about.

Driving 5+ monitors on the same rig
MattM1121 replied to MattM1121's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcThanks for the input. I meant to add that I'd be getting a AMD ATI R9 390 not the NVidia GTX. Looking at your page I don't see how you're driving 7 monitors with one card. Unless I missed something.

Driving 5+ monitors on the same rig
Greetings, I'm trying to find out how to drive 5 or more monitors on the same PC. (I'm building a home cockpit) I'll be getting some type of AMD ATI card in the near future. (Can't use NVidia due to another sim that I use) It's obvious that I would need multiple cards to do this. But is there some certain configuration that needs to be implemented? Or do I simply add two cards which would give me 8 ports? I currently have an ATI HD 78xx series card already that uses 4 ports. I'd like to be able to throw another GPU - a 980 Ti say - and use the new card to drive two monitors that would use the 3D views and the HD 78xx providing the instrumentation views. Possible? This will be on a rig with Windows 7 x64 I appreciate your feedback about this. Thanks, -Matt

Closed Captions/Sub-titles
Greetings, I have bad hearing and rely heavily upon Closed Captions and Sub-titles in daily life. I'm beginning to enjoy FS2Crew/DASH8 but have problems understanding the copilot speech. There are times when I have to take out my hearing aids since the extra pressure from the head set can cause a lot of discomfort, which adds to the difficulty. Is there any way to view what the copilot is saying? Thanks, -Matt

Can't get "Off" recognized.
That worked great. Thanks for the help.

Can't get "Off" recognized.
Greetings, I'm having a hell of a time getting "Off" reconginzed. Nothing I do seems to help. "On" was just as bad but "hone" really helped me there. I've done the speech thing a gazillion times and still will not work. Please don't ask me to do it again. I'll just fall on the ground clutching my chest. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks, -Matt

No VORDME type when adding Airways
Greetings, I was learning how to use the FMS tonight when I noticed something odd. When I put in VOR as a waypoint, select the waypoint, then select "Info" it gives me the freq that I can use to tune NAV 1 or 2. However, when I add a Victor Airway this does not happen. As an example I add V448 from Mules which ends at OED I think. When selecting any of the VOR's in the flight plan they all have a freq of 0.00. Is this a bug? Or is this by function? If it's expected behavior, using the airway method would seem kind of useless for people like me that use the FMS to look up the freqs. Anyone have any thoughts on this? This is for the Majestic DASH-8 Thanks, -Matt

Checklist and flow questions
Greetings folks, I'm a tad confused about the checklist and flow of the DASH-8/FS2Crew. As an example the Tutorial Flight's Originating Flow has all the checks in RED. Do I actually say those phrases and FS2Crew does something? Or is that what I have to do manually? It's a tad confusing for me. Thanks for any help on this. -Matt

Where do we go from here...?
Howdy folks, My first FS2Crew purchase was the ATR-72 for FS9. It was awesome. Since the ATR didn't translate well to FSX I moved on to the DASH-8. So today I saw that FS2Crew for the DASH-8 is available. Purchased it first thing, updated my patch, enable VRT and ready to go. My first impression was with the documentation. Not excatly up to par as the ATR-72 was. I find it a tad confusing as well. I don't have much time in the DASH-8 so here are some questions; 1. I'm not getting the flow of this application. If I needed to get this bird up and running what documents/checklists do I need to compliment the DASH-8 and FS2Crew? 2. Is there some minimum documentation for the DASH-8 that I should have with me during the checklist? 3. Anyone working on an integrated checklist like what was available for the ATR-72/FS2Crew combination? Thanks and awesome work guys. This really sets a new bar for realism.

What kind of aircraft is this?
I know the airlines what to stuff customers on flights, but this is ridiculous.

Using an external app to record flights.
Thanks for the idea Gazzareth, however that's internal to FSX and I need something that I can save as actual video.

Using an external app to record flights.
Greetings Folks, I used to use FRAPS as my tool to record flights. Recently I've upgraded my rig and now have a 4 monitor set up. Two monitors are standard 1280x1024 LCD DVI. Two are 1600x1200 touch screen VGA->MiniDisplay connector. My Radeon HD 7850 has two DVI and two MiniDisplay. For whatever reason the frist MiniDisplay is considered monitor 1. When I start FRAPS it uses the default "1" display which is, of course, is the wrong display. There is no way to tell FRAPS to use a different display. I tried HyperCam2 but display drivers are causing issues which ends up being just a black video. I tried Action! but all that does is crash FSX. If anyone has any ideas or reccomendations for other apps that might help, I'd certainly appreciate it. Thanks

KGEG ILS 21 questions
Thanks so much Chris. This really clears up some hand wringing issues that I was trying to grasp.

KGEG ILS 21 questions
Greetings, Someone from RealAir was writing about how people use gagets, GPS, etc... to do a lot of navigation. When I first started simming I had an Atari 800XL with 64k RAM and Sublogic Flight Simulator 2. With Charles Gulick I learned how to do navigation using dual DME and ADF. So for me the real challange of doing instrument procedures is using minimul equipment. The new GPS, moving maps, etc...are really nice and are cool to use. But sometimes I really like to put on my navigator cap and see how well I can really do. Using something like FS Flight Keeper is really good as a review and critique tool. Anyway, I'm starting to flap my gums a little too much here. (NOS Chart) I'm looking at KGEG ILS 21 and I'm wondering how to get set up at the IAF. It's 13.1 NM from I-GEG and it's a holding pattern. (I'm ashamed to admit that I've never done a procedure with a holding pattern. I always passed on those) I'll be coming in from ZOOMER ONE so I'll be heading to the IAF on radial 025 from GEG. I don't understand how to get into a left holding pattern from the position I'll be coming from. What is the proper technique to get into a 1 min pattern like this? How long am I supposed to be in the holding pattern before I decide to head to the FAF? Also, I noticed that the approach plate has no FAF to MAP speed/time chart. Why is that? In the profile view there is a box in the upper left that has the number 4200 on top, and arrow in the middle pointing up, and at the bottm GEG R-027. What does that represent? I appreciate anyones help with this. Thanks, -Matt

Searching for the PSS DASH-8
Greetings Folks, I've been fighting for years trying to get aircraft imported from one version of FS to another. It's usually the same; The aircraft will import ok, but there are bugs that cause problems and annouyances. So I've decided to can the "All-in-one" simulator and go back to flying aircraft for the version they were built for. As an example; Flight1 ATR is great in FS9, but has issues in FSX. The SF360 is AWESOME for FSX, and the PSS DASH-8 is greaft for FS2002. (Along with some other Dreamfleet aircraft) So I have three drives with three seperate installs. XP/FS2002, XP/FS9, Win7/FSX. Also, FS2002 is great if you want to do some IMC flights. So I have the PSS DASH-8 installer, but since the servers are offline the I can't do squat. (Big reason why I'm so opposed to online activation/install.) Does anyone know where I can get a full installable PSS DASH-8? I really liked the aircraft and would love to fly it again. Thanks, -Matt
