Mouse Effect

Featured Replies

I just noticed something interesting. I've tried several mouse devices on this and all react the same. When running the j41 if my mouse pointer is in the display around the cockpit I lose around 5 to 10 fps. If I press alt and put the pointer up in the header for the menus my fps go up around 5 to 10 fps. This does not seem to occur with any of my other aircraft so not sure whats in play here. Any ideas??CaptMacDon McDaniel

I read about this recently, although I can't remember where. I think what happens is that, with the mouse active in the FSX window, the application uses CPU cycles to check if the mouse is in a clickable area. With a lot of buttons and things to click, and maybe with tooltips active, you see a drop in FPS. The impact is not so large in a simple cockpit with fewer gauges and things to click on.Makes sense?
