Posting "links" to other sites?

Featured Replies

I tried to post a HTTP link to airlinersDOTnet .. an aircraft landing photo here on AVSIM.I got an error message saying AVSIM does not allow a link to that site. The site itself does permit users to "link" to photos. That say people cannot take a picture (jpg) of a picture on airlinersDOTnet the use the jpg elseware. So wondering why?

What that site allows is you to link to their page that contains the image, not the image itself. In other words, they allow you to go to their page, rather than embedding the image alone in another site. That prevents other sites from using them as their own content. We got tired of people disregarding this policy of theirs and banned the URL from being used. We want people to adhere to our policies, and we respect the policies of others.

Tom,Thanks for the reply.Ok, I did not now that the site itself (AirlinersDOTnet) had been banned on AVSIM.Actually, I read here (after my link was rejected) many post on your rules but did not see anything on this.If I get the author's permission to post the photo ... can I post the picture itself on AVSIM?Do you have any other sites on the banned list?
