FMS shut down by itself

Featured Replies

On my last flight today I must have obviously gone wrong somewhere when preparing for my flight because after both engines were started and we were about to start taxi I noticed the FMS was shut down forcing me to start it up and put in the route a second time.Any idea where I might have gone wrong or missed something? I'm positive both batteries were switched ON and also the GND PWR and once the first engine was started I asked the GPU to be disconnected using FS Marshaller. Thought I did this the same way on all my previous flights but guess not...hmm...:(

Only thing that I can think of is maybe you were a little fast disconnecting the GPU. Best check on the overhead that the FO has the generator online first.

Good tip, I'll doublecheck that on my next flight. Asked in another thread about the difference between just GND PWR vs BATT ASSIST GND PWR, I wonder if that could have anything to do with it - which of these two do you normally use?

I normally use the GND PWR position. But my guess is that they behave alike in the sim.As to what the difference is on the real airplane I'd really like to know :(

Hi Tom,Just wanted to let you know that you were right about the generator not beeing online yet was causing the problem where the FMS was shut down by itself. Now after making sure the FO gets the time he needs to bring the generator online I haven't seen the problem anymore :(
