PC upgrade for NGX

Featured Replies

My objective is simple; build a custom pc for under $1000, %13 taxes in, and with a nice screen. This pc for flight simulation purposes only with the upcoming NGX and FSX in mind.I've tried to catch up with the best price/performance units and here's what I've concluded so far;CPU: Core i5-750HDD: I'm planning to use my current SATA drive, I'm thinking about getting a SSD with 6GB/s speed sometime during next summer.MB: Nothing fancy, but should allow me to use upcoming SSD drives and should yield some light overclocking with the stock cpu fan. I'd like to overclock more, but somehow my temps are always sky high, so I don't want to invest fancy, but useless cpu fans this time.VGA: GTX 460 w/1gb ram. Should be good for FSX, and upcoming DCS: A10.RAM: 4GB ddr3 1600 ( do I need6gb?? )Case/Power supply: Existing 450W PS and mid tower caseScreen: 24" 16:10 IPS panel, I'm planning to spend around $250 CAD for this unit. 16:9 23" IPS panels available for ~$200 CAD so this deal should be only a matter of time..OS: Win7-64 (already have it)I'd like to finish building this system before the Xmas break (IMO, the NGX will be done around that time as well). Your comments are appreciated.Bozhan

You may need more than 450W I don't know though.

I don't think you can get this stuff for under $1000 man. Any large IPS screen is going to be very expensive - I doubt the 23" you saw was a true IPS ala the Apple or Dell high end monitors. It was probably an e-IPS or something lower quality like that.450W is definitely too low on the PSU too, especially with overclocking going on.
