September 19, 201015 yr After a weekend of trying to install Windows 7 64bit with countless blue screens of death, removing hardware to find the culprit (bad memory stick) I got it to install. Then spent the week re-installing all my FSX stuff and learning my way around admin right, taking ownership of files, compatibility modes, etc, I got FSX up and working. All I can say is WOW (not World of Warcraft, that's my wife's thing)!!!!No more OOMs, very very few stutters, silky smooth flights. To those thinking about going to Windows 7 64bit, it's worth the effort. September 23, 201015 yr Commercial Member I have to say, I had similar initial very frustrating problems, centred around an unstable overclock and problem video drivers. Now, with the correct drivers and a stable overclock, I must say, it runs beautifully. I am still in the process of getting my sceneries etc installed, but really, it's very good so far!!Cheers,Mark
September 27, 201015 yr Author To continue; here's what I've done as far as "Tweaks" are concerned.[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=12[bufferPools]UsePools=0 [GRAPHICS]SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=12ForceWindowedVSync=0ForceFullScreenVSync=0HIGHMEMFIX=1 ALLOW_SHADER_30=1SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=1693500684SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED_10=1693500684TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024[Display]TextureMaxLoad=21WideViewAspect=TrueRUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=1.2 //adjust values to suit your scaleRUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=1.2RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=1.2RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=1.0[Main]DisablePreload=1Framerate set to "unlimited" and I use an external frame rate limiter set at 30fps.. I get a very smooth 15fps at most places (all sliders set per NickN's suguestion) and even at KJFK or EGLL I get about 9fps, but it's still smooth. I just have to learn to turn off the FPS display as I've been transfixed with it. I think it lies anyway.I run mesh, complete scenery, complex aircraft, etc. Cheers; Solren 401 Sqn RCAF "Rams" (ret.)
