I am new to fsx. I bought a ASUS notebook G73jh series I7 intel core 1.6 , 6gb ram 64 operating system GRAPHIC CARD...ATI mobility radeon hd 5870 1gb . Fsx seems to be a little CHOPPY the frame rate is set at 15 but some times it drops to 14.3 for a split second. I thought this computer would suffice. I am running display 1600x900X32 landscape. Your processor speed is really low for FSX's needs, but I'm not sure how much you can overclock it in a laptop. I'll offer a couple of ideas, although there are many out there with far more experience with this sort of thing than me.First, if you haven't already, consider trying the FSX tweaks suggested by NickN over at SimForums. It's time-consuming, but I've heard nothing but good things about it.Also, I've never seen any benefits to locking in a particular framerate, so I always just leave it at unlimited. But I'm sure there's a good reason for it being there, and I'm sure others can explain it a lot better than I can. Wouldn't hurt to try unlimited, though.

I used to have a i5 2.6 ghz with a ati mobility radeon and it seemed to run smooth...I thought going with the ASUS I7 1.6 ghz would increase the playability and smoothness....am i wrong assuming this?

FSX loves raw CPU speed more than anything else.

Proably not so much, if it runs smooth keep it you proably wouldn't see a big difference.
