October 6, 201015 yr Before doing that, try changing boot order to disk, then booting from the windows disk. If this doesn't work, try a new HD. They're fairly cheap so shouldn't be too much hastle.
October 6, 201015 yr Author Thanks Chris. Only thing that puzzles me is that the last time I booted up the computer, the hard drive was not connected. It was only booting off of the windows recovery disk then it shuts down. Take the hard drive out of play and it still shuts down on its own. This is why I am leaning towards a bad motherboard. Thanks,John
October 6, 201015 yr But if it was the motherboard, It SHOULDNT pass bios. Just give an error. I think all modern motherboards have a self shutdown type feature to stop any damage occuring when faults are found. But the shutdown is at or before bios, not at windows loading. How long does windows load for before shutting down? It's maybe just windows being akward, and needing a good wipe. Try the boot order, if it doesn't work, go buy a $40 250GB HD.
October 7, 201015 yr Author It will get to the point where the bar goes from left to right then shuts down. I will try a hard drive when I get time to get to the store. Thanks,John
