September 27, 201015 yr Hello all I was thinking today about some payware aircraft. and the impact in frame rate's they have on the sim, so a question towards the gauge development gurus out there. which is your opinion the best? XML C++ GDI?? is that the most we can do?? is there anything new out there that we should look forward too? if the coding for the gauges are not good the aircraft will suffer very low frame rates and slow gauges, just a thought but a very important part of are simming. September 27, 201015 yr You'll do tons better when the video card actually handles more of the rendering. After that, there's a little hit to do XML, but not enough to speak of. However, it's hard to generalize as it depends on what type of cockpit, and to what level of fidelity you are modeling. In the end, it's all about tradeoffs. Specifically, it's in the engine. However, to be fair, very few engines go to the lengths of whole-earth modeling as FS does. When you think about it, FS is INCREDIBLE! September 29, 201015 yr No problem. Yours is a good question and I hope a few more "in the know" drop by and give some hints. Jeff Bea I am an avid globetrotter with my trusty Lufthansa B777F, Polar Air Cargo B744F, and Atlas Air B748F.
