October 5, 201015 yr Not sure whether I have a technical problem or just a lack of understanding of how the FMC will fly a SID.I'm departing from EGFF using the latest AIRAC which looks like this:SID BCN1A RNW 30 TRK 300 UNTIL 5.1 FROM FIX RW30 TURN RIGHT DIRECT FIX D214O AT OR ABOVE 3500 TRK 034 UNTIL 11.0 FROM FIX BCN TRK 034 UNTIL 6.0 FROM FIX BCN FIX BCNMy expectation was that after take-off and switching to NAV and engaging AP, the AP would follow the SID, flying straight ahead for 5.1 miles, then turning right to fix D2140. My confusion is that the FMC seems to fly direct to D2140 from the runway, effectively cutting out the turn. I've attached a couple of pics to show my setup. At the moment, I have to hand-fly the first portion, turn to D1240 and then switch to NAV, whereupon the AP will follow the route. So my questions are, should the J41 be able to fly the initial parts of the SID under NAV/AP, where might I be going wrong? TksGerard Marley Gerard Marley
October 5, 201015 yr Well it often has problem with the conditional parts of STARs/SIDs (for example "fly hdg 180 until 3000ft or 3NM DME, which is later"). Usually this has to be flown by hand, I usually do this and then select a direct to the following "hard" fix. There is also a bug that you can't go direct to the first waypoint of a STAR or approach, hope this will be fixed within SP2.. Regards. Matthias Hanel MilViz Beta Team
