October 8, 201015 yr I've just taken delivery of a Saitek Cyborg X Flight Stick. This is my first stick and I am totally new to flight simulation. I will use MS FS2004 to learn how to fly - using one of the single-engined light aircraft included. Eventually, I would then like to venture into combat flight simulation. So, is there a 'standard' or common set of functions usually assigned to a stick - there are dozens of functions available via the keyboard but what is the 'usual' subset that would be assigned to the stick. I would guess these would be functions used most often or which are most critical to controlling an aircraft.Any thoughts on this or advice would be greatly appreciated.TIA
October 8, 201015 yr Welcome to your new addiction Paolo! My most often used commands are:(Default key command in parentheses)Flaps Increase (F7)Flaps Decrease (F6)Gear (g)Spoiler Extend/Retract (/) <== "Forward Slash" (Not needed if flying a plane without spoilers of course...)Trim Up (Num 1)Trim Down (Num 7)Next View (A)Next View Category (S)ATC (`) <=="Tilde"Brake (.)Pause TrackIR (F9 in TrackIR software default setup)Center TrackIR (F12 in TrackIR software default setup)Pause Simulation (p)If you do not use TrackIR, you will of course need to have the HAT switch on the joystick mapped to Pan View which it should default to automatically. October 8, 201015 yr Author Philip: thanks - I'm still struggling with the plethora of options!I'm a bit puzzled by the fact that the Saitek comes with its own programming software for function assignment but that some sims require function assignment within the sim software - which takes priority?
