making taildragger into conventional landing gear?

Hi there,does anyone know where I can find an entry in either the aircraft.cfg or the airfile that determines an airplane to be either a taildragger or conventional landing gear aircraft?I know this is not realistic but unfortunately my rudder pedals died last weekend and it'll take me a while to get a new one. Ummm a taildragger is considerd a conventionl landing gear system the tricycle ones are the non-conventional FYI.Maybe you should try the plane design forum thats where the smart people hang out :)

There is an entry for the main gear steering angle. If it is 0 or 180 degrees just change it to 45 degrees or 60 degrees and you can taxi the tail draggers with a two axis joystick and autocoordination on. I know I'll be flamed for this but I don't have a three axis joystick and hate to use the keyboard for differentail braking. It works for all of the tail draggers, believe me. I don't remember where the steering angle is. If you can't find it I'll look for it. Regards, Bob.

Now if I continue counting going to the right, and wait until I get to "7" the entry for that line is 180.0 Which means that's the turn angle (in my example, mine is already modified to 60.0). In some it is 0.0. In all tail draggers, I counted over across until I got to that column and gave all the tail draggers a common value of 60.0This took all of 5 minutes and I now can steer my taildraggers simply with rudder input because it now acts like nosesteering on the ground.Is this unrealistic. Sure, but it is something that I will gladly give up for playability.And besides, my logic is. If I'm restoring these bad boys, and I have the technology, I'm gonna link the tail wheels to the rudder anyhow. Sure, not as real as it gets, but much more controllable, and makes controlling the taildraggers on the ground much less hassle than it needs to be.

Hi Wil. Glad you explained it. I did not remember exactly what I did. Someone else suggested this fix for me when I asked the same type question a while ago. We all know it's unrealistic but it does make the tail draggers steerable without differential braking or differential throttles. Happy Flying, regards, Bob.

Hey Ben, thanks for the "free" bump ;-) and it worked!Bob, BINGO, that's exactly what I was looking for. I just can't ge myself to use the F11 and F12 keys for diff. breaking.
