Meljet 777 V2 new panel w/ wingviews

Featured Replies

OK im tired of not beeing able to fly my all time favorite bird because of some cabin door in the left view angle. Today I just downloaded a new panel with some wingviews for the 777 uploaded to the AVSim library as I thought it might cure the problem via some panel view coordinates.Well, it didnt :( Still look left and straight into a brick wall or door rather. Looking back gives me nice open view of the hole in the cabin THROUGH THE CABIN WINDOW!!!Its now gotten to the point where Im asking this; Is there any way to COMPLETELY remove the virtual cabin from this aircraft??Id rather have no cabin at all then not beeing able to look outside of the flightdeck. At least until ActiveCamera gets their dll out for free use.Besides i'll have nice panel, wingviews and windows from this new panel wich i really enjoy using in the 747's :)

Try this:Change the viewpoint in the aircraft.cfg to the following:[Views]//eyepoint = 90.0, -2.65, 2.25eyepoint = 96.0, -2.65, 2.25Then add to your panel.cfg the following VIEWS section. I've left the previous two sections for reference as to position in the cfg. I use the recent Alex Christoff panel, but no internal cockpit views as they are very awkward.[Window Titles]Window00=Main PanelWindow01=Radio StackWindow02=Throttle QuadrantWindow03=Overhead PanelWindow04=GPSWindow05=TCAS Panel//Fixed Window30=Forward Right//Fixed Window31=Right//Fixed Window32=Rear Right//Fixed Window33=Rear//Fixed Window34=Rear Left//Fixed Window35=Left//Fixed Window36=Forward LeftFixed Window37=Up[VIEWS]view_forward_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANEL,RADIO_STACK_PANEL,20,COMPASS_PANELVIEW_FORWARD_DIR=4.0, 0.0, 360.0VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_WINDOWS=30VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_DIR=8.0, 0.0, 45.0VIEW_RIGHT_WINDOWS=31VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_WINDOWS=32VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_ZOOM=1.0VIEW_REAR_WINDOWS=33VIEW_REAR_ZOOM=1.5VIEW_REAR_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 225.0VIEW_REAR_LEFT_WINDOWS=34VIEW_REAR_LEFT_ZOOM=1.0VIEW_LEFT_WINDOWS=35VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_WINDOWS=36VIEW_UP_WINDOWS=37VIEW_UP_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 135.0VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP_WINDOWS=39 // RIGHT WING VIEWVIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 90//VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP_EYE=0.0, -1.38,-12.57 // Adjust last value to move fore and aftVIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP_EYE=0.0, -0.25,-32.47 VIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP_WINDOWS=40 // LEFT WING VIEWVIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 270//VIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP_EYE=0.0, -1.33, -12.73 // Adjust last value to move fore and aftVIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP_EYE=0.0, -0.25, -32.60 VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_WINDOWS=41 // SEAT VIEWVIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_DIR=12.0, 0.0, 227//VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_EYE=-1.80, -0.10, -7.49 // Adjust last value to move fore and aft VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_EYE=-3.00, -0.10, -11.19 VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_WINDOWS=42 // SEAT VIEWVIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_DIR=10.0, 0.0, 138//VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_EYE=3.0, -0.10, -7.49 // Adjust last value to move fore and aft VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_EYE=4.0, -0.10, -11.19You can add the views to the default panel too, if you'd like. Just for the record, the views are accessed by ctrl+shift+1, ctrl+shift+7, ctrl+shift+9 and ctrl+shift+3.Just make sure those views are assigned in your keyboard commands. Also, it's more fun to add the 4 buttons at the base of your joystick to those views for quick access.Lee

That is absolutely amazing!!!Thanks alot mate, it works very well! :)

Hi!I tried adding the wingviews and they work just great! But there is one thing I don't get, I've looked through all my assigned key commands and I can't find the CTRL-SHIFT-1, CTRL-SHIFT-3 and so on keys but still they do work when I press those combinations when in the A/C - how is that possible :-)?! Would like to be able to change the key combinations but find don't know how when I can't find them in the list of key commands. Also got another question. I usually press SHIFT-ENTER once to be able to see a little bit better out of the cockpit, especially when I'm on short final. Can I change the default value for this somewhere so I don't have to do this every time I fly?All the best and thanks for sharing your knowledge, really appreciate these kind of tips which make flying even more fun!!Richard

Richard,If you're having trouble changing the assignments in your options menu. Look to see if your FS9.cfg has the following in it:VIEW_FORWARD_UP=38,42VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP=33,42VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP=34,42VIEW_REAR_UP=40,42VIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP=35,42VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP=36,42This is where the view commands come from once you have assigned them in Options. It's best to do them in the options menu if you can figure it out.As for the forward view:Change the number on the second line from 4 to 5. The higher you go the more down view you get.[VIEWS]view_forward_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANEL,RADIO_STACK_PANEL,20,COMPASS_PANELVIEW_FORWARD_DIR=4.0, 0.0, 360.0Lee

Hi LeeThanks for the info, the forward view works great now both for taxing and landings.I looked in my FS9.cfg and it has those lines in it, but I still find it strange that I can't find the key combinations within the game using the GUI interface via the options menu. Now when that's the case, how can I change the key combinations to something else than the default ones, ie CTRL+SHIFT+3 and so on?Anyways, I find the wing views very amusing and I'm very pleased to now have them. Used to have those kind of views in FS2002 where I flew Dreamfleets 737, my absolute favourite A/C in FS2002.Have a nice week-end!//Richard

Richard,You just have to go into the Options menu and to the assignments section. Scroll down and find those commands and give them the appropriate keyboard and/or joystick assignments. It's really the only way you are going to get it to work properly.Lee

Hi again Lee,The thing is that it's already working, I can press CTRL+SHIFT+1, CTRL+SHIFT+3, CTRL+SHIFT+7, CTRL+SHIFT+9 for the different wing views and all of them work just fine. And that is exactly why I find it so strange, how can they work when I can't find those key combinations in the assignments section under Options? Because that's exactly where I'm looking for them. Not a big deal since they work, just would be nice to be able to change what keys to press to access those views.Richard

The section of the assignments that cover those views is:look back/left/uplook back/right/uplook forward/left/uplook forward/right/upYou probably should leave those alone since they work. In some cases I have found that they get put there in the original installation of FS. In other cases they have to be added. What I did is add to the assignments the ability to select them with the 4 buttons at the base of the joystick. That makes them really easy to access in flight. This way I rarely use the keyboard commands. Any plane I have with wing views I use these. Of course the settings change due to the different lengths of aircraft.Lee

That's my thought as well, I'll just leave them alone since they work. Thanks for all info Lee and happy flying!!/Richard

Hi again LeeGot another question, when I press 'S' to goto the virtual cockpit view mode to be able to enter the virtual cabin that's included in the MelJet 777 I'm flying I always have to first turn around and walk back into the cabin from the flightdeck. Is there a way I could set the default "starting point" for virtual view mode to be inside the cabin from the very first beginning so I don't have to turn around and walk back into it every time I start a new flight?TIA,Richard

That one I'm not sure about. You could move your eyepoint back by decreasing the first number, but I think it's more important to be up front so that the other views work well.Lee

Yeah, I remember having problems with the views up in front in the beginning - only saw a "wall" when looking left in the cockpit. That problem was solved by changing the value for the eyepoint. But when starting a flight, after I have entered the virtual cabin the first time it stays in the same position even after re-entering afterwards and the views in the cockpit works OK as well. That's why I thought you should be able to have it that way from the very beginning.Well, too much talk now and too little flying - going to do something about it right away :-)Thanks for all help Lee!/Richard
