September 10, 200322 yr Ok I went down to the shop this morning and bought FS2004 and bought it back and intalled it on my system....First time I tryed to start it I get "Please insert FS2004 Disc4, select OK and restart application" error.. now I have the CD in the drive and when i click the FS9 Shortcut the cd drive become active and starts spinning but then gives me that message.. It all installed fine and I have no idea why it is doing this...System is Windows XP ProAMD Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1.56GhzGeforce2 GTS Pro 32MB256MB DDR RAMAnyone have any idea how to fix this??
September 10, 200322 yr This is what may make me return to FS2002.FS2004 works okay as long as you don't take the cd out of the drive. If I have some time on the sim and then insert another disc (music cd or another game) and then try to return to the sim, I get the "no cd" error message and have to switch off the computer and start again. It is a copyright issue and although I agree that pirating should be eliminated, surely there must be a way that MS can ensure that the cd is always recognised. Afterall, FS2000 worked okay. This a very frustrating when trying to design scenery etc.Colin
September 10, 200322 yr I wish it was that simple...I don't even know if the game will run on my system yet as it hasn't started up at all yet.. Even if i Restart the computer with the cd in or with the cd out it wont work.. when i insert the cd in it doesn't autorun either...I need to get this sorted quick as the shop wont allow me to return the game after like 3 days and i dont wanna be stuck with a 4 set of coasters 4 $110AU....
September 10, 200322 yr Make sure you are on your adminstrator side (user with admin priviledges) and not just a user? You must run fs2004 on an admin account first. If you are on an admin account and still have the problem, check to see if you have any disk cloning programs on your computer. The safedisk program detects these programs and will not allow starting of fs2004 unless they are removed from your computer.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
September 10, 200322 yr If you get the game running OK there are some useful add-ons to test your system at simviation.com. Aircraft, scenery and don't forget the FS2004 miscellaneous section.
September 10, 200322 yr Moderator Dave - This is a documented problem with FS2004/Safedisc combination. *Some* cd drives fail to read it properly even tho it will install correctly. Even the MSVP's recommend using the NOCD crack that's available from various sources. Do a google search for fs9.exe and go from there.Of course, you could also buy another cd reader :)hth,Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
September 10, 200322 yr Yeah, some drives flat out reject Safedisc protection. Example: My Mitsumi 54x CD-ROM. Ugh, I always am having problems with this drive LOL. It seems to only want to go fast when the planets are perfectly aligned AND pigs fly...on the same day :-lol! Im lucky I have a burner that will read whatever you give it or I would of been looking for the no-cd patch too LOL.
