September 12, 200322 yr I have a problem with my FS9, texure on aircraft dissapear after a while and then the terrain go nuts.It looks like thishttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/36539.jpgI'm running WinXp SP1 Directx9b-Gainward Geforce4 TI4800SE with 45.23 driverP4 2.4gHz-768DDR.Vbx147
September 12, 200322 yr have you tried to fully remove FS9 and re-install? If that does not work...gotta be something video card related... One would think Regards,

September 12, 200322 yr I WinXP... tell me what are your settings here? Start by right-cliking on 'My Computer'.System Properties --> Advanced Tab --> Performance Settings --> Advanced Tab --> Memory UsageDo you have 'Programs' checked or 'System Cache'?You may be having the problem you are seeing if you have 'System Cache' checked.Regards,Jim
September 13, 200322 yr I have exactly the same problem and it is intermittent... but once it starts it's there for the rest of the session. My setup is also very similar to you.A complete reinstallation made no difference.I have found that turning off water effects fixes the ground texture issue... but this is not an appropriate solution, and it doesn't address the aircraft texture problem or the Autogen problem (see below)I also have the following problems:Autogen trees work for a while and then they 'disappear'. On closer inspection, they appear for a second as white polygons, then vanish completely, or at least they appear to. If I drop down to ground level the trees are there but are invisible - I can tell this because when I'm behind an invisible tree the clouds and some scenery elements behind them disappear... Other autogen structures area unaffected (buildings etc) but some autogen objects textures don't appear and the shimmering of the autogen building textures is terribly distracting.I suspect this is a video card driver issue... which may be related to a problem with Flight Simulator, or it may not... I have also noticed that when using AA (at any level) there is an aweful lot of shimmering going on...My setup:P4 2.0 GHz512Mb RAMGeForce4 Ti 128MbWindows XP Pro SP1Full istallation of FSAny real solutions would be appreciated... ?Nvidia ?Microsoft are you reading this?I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem... FS2002 looks much better than FS2004 for me because of this mess... sadly...Paul
September 13, 200322 yr ...oh yes... and I'm using the latest Detonators 45.23 WHQL certified from the nVidia web siteUntil this gets fixed I think I might ditch the flight simming for a while... considering I've already uninstalled FS2002 and given my discs away...Paul

Again Thanks very much :-)VBX147
September 13, 200322 yr Well, I'm so very glad I pointed you to the source of the problem! :)Now, about the sound, what sound card are you using? An onboard sound card?Jim

September 13, 200322 yr Hi,You can do a few things. First, make sure you have the lastest drivers for that onboard soundcard. Second, and this is the one that will probably work, run DxDiag and turn the hardware acceleration of the sound down using the slider. Third, and my recommended solution, ditch the onboard sound and get a good quality add-in sound card. I use the Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 and have no such problems. Can you guess why I guessed that you were using onboard sound? I guessed it because onboard sound is crappy and causes problems like what you are experiencing. The exception to this might perhaps be the onboard sound on the nForce2 motherboard. Good luck.Regards,Jim
September 14, 200322 yr It's your video card...for some reason your card uses the buffer and memory from the sound card when it needs a "boost". The better the video card, the sound problem goes away. In my case I bought a stop-gap bargain card (FX5200)and, when the clouds are turned up, the ATC sounds like it's being called in from the ballpark.
September 14, 200322 yr Thanks to OneTinSoldier(Jim) for suggesting switching the memory usage from System Cache to Programs...It solved all the problems...- Autogen now ALL works, all the time, with the textures, trees aren't invisbible now...- Rainbow textures are a thing of the past- Textures work on external aircraft & VC now also..Thanks Jim...Paul
September 14, 200322 yr Hi Paul,You're very welcome! I'm glad that you won't be having to 'ditch' flight simming for a while now unless you just want to. ;)Cheerio,Jim
