Posky's new 747-300

Featured Replies

I have downloaded the Thai 747-300 by Posky for FS2002 and I've seen many screenshots with the spikes enabled at the end of the wings (a customary feature of the 743). However when I load the plane up these spikes do not appear and I was wondering if I need to a assign a key - what do I need to do?? Also I would like to know when these spikes should be used. I would appreciate a speedy response since I wish to do a longhaul. Thanks in advance!JohnPS: I have tried searching many fs forums but couldn't find any answers.

Please guys can someone help me with this, I still haven't figured it out and Ive been trying everything from "wing unfold" etc but nothing is happening. I think these spikes are required for take off since my plane is having difficulty climbing. It doesn't say anything in the readme and I've searched on the posky forums aswell. Please please point me in the direction.John

Hi JohnThe "spikes" as you call them at the end of the wings are called 'winglets' and are an aerodynamic improvement on previous wing designs. On the 747 family, they 1st appeared on the 747-400. They are not selectable...they are an integral part of the wing not "pop-ups". I suspect that you are mistaken when you say you have seen them on a 747-300.

John, I think the spike you speak of are actually antennae on the 747-100, -200, and -300 series. Not sure if they are VHF or UHF, probably dependent on the communications package installed on the aircraft. On the POSKY 743, they might be coded in the model file. Try posting again their forum and asking about wintip antennae. As far as takeoff, check your fuel load and trim up, a fully loaded 747 Classic can use up the majority of a 10,000 foot runway before rotating at 180-190 knots. Hope that helps you.
