How can I get better frame rates?

Featured Replies

I need better frame rates. I dont know what they are, but they are not smooth at all. It seems no matter if I have all sliders on graphics maxed or set halfway, there is not much difference between the two. P4 2.4g 1 gig mem. 128mb 4600ti video. with dx9b and 45.23 drivers and set at 1600x1200. Do i need more ram? I would think I have enough. Is there any other way for better frame rates. Thanks.

I found that if I disable the anti-aliasing box in the display settings dialog I get much better framerates. Almost double...Give it a try and if you can live with jagged edges on almost horizontal lines then it's no problem...To compensate I cranked up my display resolution way up so that it is not so noticable...

Your system sounds almost exactly like mine.I run everything pretty much maxed except aa which is off.I always use real weather and have clouds turned 100%I get 12-20 fps with some stuttering at major aiports and in turns. Good enough though for sight seeing vfr flights. If I want absolutely smooth flight to practice ifr or maneuvers I turn the autogen completely off-I then get silky smooth flight of 30-40 fps with no stuttering at all. You might want to give that a try.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/Geofdog2.jpg

Hi, Do not use antialasing inside fs2004 disabled, it will cost you near 7 fps only get 2x antialasing, 1600x1200 will reduce your frame rate also near 5 fps. scenery Shadows also affect fps near airportsTry 1024x768 32 bits and 2x antialasing, Clouds draw distant slider to 40 milMesh 85% or lower; + gain fpsAI Traffic lower than 100%; + gain FPSAutogen; + gain fpsScenery; + gain fpsWater = + gain fpsThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I dont get any change in the frame rates. It is wierd, but I get the same frame rates with all maxed, or even if I turn down everything. This sucks. The highest frame rate I have seen was a 9, and that didn't last long either. Nice sim.

I keep reading about adjusting the cfg. stuff. Ok, I would like to try it, but I dont know what to put there once I get there.
