The Instrument Rating Checkride in FS2004

Featured Replies

I would like to know if just one text message in yellow means that I will not pass the IR checkride? It's difficult for me to stay on course because the plane is so sensitive andoverreact very easy when I bank. Is this because I have rudders now? Also I would like to know if the examiner will tell me when to turn left and cross Seattle VOR again after passing PARKK?

Yes, 99% of the Gold dings, will be disqualifying. You must be able to perform the maneuvers that I listed, in a very short and accurate manner, otherwise it is not likely you will ever pass. There is also a serious problem after you complete the Hold, just pass SEA VOR, and the Procedure Turn. You need to start timely and be sure you are on the 265 Deg. heading. Another problem is that you only get feedback, at about 25 min. into the test, and again after the Hold, and at the finish, after you stop, and then you have to start over.See my message a couple of pages back for more info. Do a search for "avcomware". TV

As far I can remember it seems that this checkride is the same as in FS2002 but they have made more difficult to pass. But on the other hand the voice is more distinct and the briefing is clearer about what is to be done.
