October 18, 201015 yr I didn't encounter this before, but I admit that I don't use flex thrust that often: After takeoff yesterday with a slightly derated flex TO thrust, I pulled the altitude knob as usual above 1500 ft, but there was no transition to CLB thrust limit. Unable to get CLB limit anyhow, I finally disconnected A/T. Did I miss something? Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. Respice, lector: In nihil ab nihilo quam cito recidimus.
October 18, 201015 yr Pulling the altitude will engage the climb in whatever mode the fadec is in - It's similar to flch in boeing. If you wait until climb thrust is annuciated then it will climb using climb thrust.John Ellison

Set the Thrust reduction and Acceleration altitude in the FMC and let the automatics do it for you. Rob Prest
October 19, 201015 yr Author I'm curious as to why you always pull the ALT knob? Set the Thrust reduction and Acceleration altitude in the FMC and let the automatics do it for you.Works only when PROF is active. I usually hand fly the first part of the departure, so I pull the alt knob (there's a bug in the logic here, hope this will be resolved some day in the future). In my special case, I pulled the alt knob as usual above thrust reduction altitude, but nothing happened to the thrust limit!
