September 30, 200322 yr im thinking of buying the PSS A340-300. but is it worth it? how is the functionality? is it like the PSS A320 where nothing on the overhead worked or does it have way more functionality. and how is the MCDU, is it complete? how are the flight dynamics? and last of all, with patches does it have good potential?adam You cant truley understand flying until you have actually tasted and felt it.
September 30, 200322 yr the A330/340 is a very nice looking add-onunfortunately at this time, a lot of bugs would prevent me from purchasing it again.once PSS has managed to fix it, it might become compareable to the high level of the PSS A320.it's up to you X-Plane 11.3x / DCS 2.5.4 / P3Dv4.5 / Aerofly FS 2 Win10-x64 | ASUS Z270E | Intel i7-7700K @4.5GHz | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB DDR4 | 6TB SSD Samsung 850 Pro | ASUS GTX 1080 ROG STRIX 8GB DDR5X | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Combat Pedals | Oculus Rift CV1
September 30, 200322 yr is it like the PSS A320 where nothing on the overhead workedYuphow is the MCDU, is it complete?Nope how are the flight dynamicsit's Nice to taxi, and when you arent stalling-it flies ok.with patches does it have good potential? It's functionality is the exact same as the A320, just a clickable VC(which is nicely done), is it worth it? If you love airbus and long haul-maybe.Otherwise, I'd say give this a miss.JohnP 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewerhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
September 30, 200322 yr Author I was all up on getting it then I found out that Posky was releasing a V2 of thier 330, then I also found a very cool 340 on avsim by Aerodesigns. I may still get the PSS base packs just for the panels and sounds, but I will not be getting any additional liveries for the main reason of the price of it... right now the Canadian dollar is worthless against the UK pound, making their product and 5 liveries more then I paid for flightsim itself!!I even emailed PSS and asked them why their boxed versions were 1/2 the price of the direct download and you get 3 times the amount of liveries (Prime example is the Dash 8, 17 liveries plus the basepack for $30 US or something...I can't get the base pack and 5 for that direct from the site) Anyways, I never recieved an email back. I just figure they would sell alot more if the prices were similar?? Oh well I'll wait for the boxed version I guess!! (I am not complaining as some are thinking with the old "well this company has to make a living to so don't complain about pricing" yes there was alot of work put into it which is evident from the screenshots. I am questioning why the huge price difference especially with box art design, pressing CDs etc, none of that is involved with a direct download!Chris
September 30, 200322 yr Essentially, PSS sell the product for CD distribution to a publisher-usually Justflight for a large enough lump sum, they probably get royalties or a portion of the profit aswell.PSS will eventually have to stop charging for their liveries, look at Wilco, PMDG, and all other companies which don't charge-it's not as if the liveries are spectacular or anything.Just to note that I am not a PSS fan-that may cause a slight Bias in my comments ;)JohnP 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewerhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
September 30, 200322 yr Chris are you sure about the pricing? - have you actually gone thru and added stuff to your shopping cart to get your actual total - it tends to be a lot less with the PSS discount policy - the more you buy the less you pay per item.just a thought...regards,Mark Regards, Mark
September 30, 200322 yr The other side of the coin!I have bought all of PSS products. The reasons are as follows. I tend to prefer that not all systems are modelled to their exact real life counterparts. I do not have the time to go down extensive checklists and preflight procedures. I do have Ralphs fabulous Ready for Pushback B747-200, I just do not have the time for it anymore.PSS released the A330/A340 with a few problems but after the initial gauge patch and a few tweaks it is working well enought that I can fly some short routes as time permits. Others in the "community" are completing longer flights in the A340 6-10 hours in length. You can rely on PSS to have it all ironed out in the next 6-8 weeks. They are consistent and reliable folks. I have been happy with all their products, B777, B747, Dash, A319, A320, A321.Good luck and happy flying!Tony
September 30, 200322 yr Author Hi Mark,Yeah, went through the process of adding several liveries to the package... the 2 base airbus packs plus 5 liveries worked out to the equivalent of rought $83 Canadian dollars.. I continued to just randomly add liveries to see the total reduction. With 17 liveries in I am now showing a price of $125 Canadian dollars!! Well worth waiting for the boxed livery!!Chris
