Framerate and AA

Featured Replies

Hi all tweak experts! It seems that AA taxes heavily FS9s performance. On the other hand when I disable AA there is a considerable 'shimmering' of 3D textures. so what is the best middle ground? any way to circumvent the use of AA without a significant compromise of visual quality. As a matter of fact AA was never an issue with FS2002, I never got the buildings shimmering in that sim with or without AA. Why is the case different in FS9?Your input is much appreciated.//Mike

Set your mip-map slider to 4.

Already there... :)

You tried using RivaTuner or a 3rd party tweaking program to force AA on all D3D programs? Turn AA off in FS, and force 2x AA.

Hi Travis,Thanks a lot for your attempts to help me! The thing is that I can't set my AA to anything lower than x4. when I try x2 I get all sorts of problems with the sim (crush on 'create a flight' or when I try to bring on the menu).BTW I'm using the 45.33 drivers for my Ti4200 card//Mike

I have a Ti4600. In Performance and Quality settings, I have High Performance, 2X Anti Aliasing, and 2X Aniso. Texture Sharpening is disabeled. Together with the tweaks to the FS9.cfg file I am getting good performance so far. All settings are at default in the FS sliders. (Just tried this as I recently completed a complete FDISK/Reformat). So far excellent performance in the sim.Hope this helps.

I have the same problem with 2x. The only thing I see in the "Create a Flight" menu is the a/c spinning around. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next release of WHQL drivers.

Mike, for the Ti4200 card, the best solution is to use the 30.82 drivers. Then select 2xAA and use Rivatuner to set 2x or 4xAF..Keep AA disabled on the FS9 Diplay Options menu, however! You'll get good framerates and great graphics!

Travis, have you tried the 30.82 drivers? They fixed it for me with my Ti4200. See above for details.Donwload from www.guru3d.com or nvidia archives.
