October 2, 200322 yr Could someone copy/paste me a display config section for FS2002 running under a Radeon 9800pro - the setup is giving me little issues and wont let me do 1600x1200 in 32bit.Thanks!
October 2, 200322 yr Hi,I could be wrong but I don't think the problem lies with the Display.cfg file. My understanding is that this file was placed in the sim by MS with 'workaround' switches for various graphics cards that the developers were aware had issues with the sim. If you browse through the file you will note the various affected cards listed and these entries are commented out - i.e. just aide memoires for the programmers.Underneath each card entry, generic or otherwise, there is a coded line containing references to specific device IDs and their vendors. Underneath that there lies the appopriate switches relevant to each affected card. The ATI Radeon 9800 Pro entry is absent but this may simply be that the card was released after the sim went Gold. You might try adding this entry as an experiment:(I am assuming you are running XP);----------------------------------------------------------------------; ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 2k/XP;----------------------------------------------------------------------[00001002:00004E48:ati2dvag.dll]Disable=1[00001002:00004E48:ati2dvag.dll.1]MinDriverRev=6.14.0001.6307Disable=2Just place it underneath the 9700 entry.Having said all that, I say again I suspect your problem lies elsewhere.Try deleting the FS9.cfg file after making a backup and allow the sim to rebuild the file. Go into the Hardware section and reset your preferred resolution and change Bilinear to Trilinear. Exit the sim. Then take the fresh entry from the newly created fs9.cfg file and paste it in place of the original entry in the copy you made earlier. Before saving and exiting check there are no duplicate entries elswhere in the file (usually lower down). My entry:(DISPLAY.Device.RADEON 9800 PRO.0) :)I have an LCD panel and the highest resolution I can select is the panel's native reolution of 1280x1024x32.So, your next step will be to check your monitor is being detected correctly and not referred to as 'plug-and-play'. You may have to reinstall the monitor's drivers.Have you tried doing a system restore from a dated restore point prior to when you first noted the problem? This may be the quickest solution. Finally, try the effect of reinstalling DirectX and then running dxdiag.exe to check all is well in the display section.Good luck!Mike
October 2, 200322 yr I don't think it is related to the brand of GPU. Here is a summary of my experience with the problem.www.fs-traveler.com/32-bit.shtmlGood luck,Steve
October 3, 200322 yr Author Thanks for the info.I changed my desktop to 1600x1200 and re-started FS2002 and the option at 32bit showed up (together with a few higher ones). Picked it and it run fine.It dissapears again from the list if I switch my desktop back to 1280x1024 though but as long as I don't change the settings it sticks at 1600x1200.Thanks again!
