Basically where they are supposed to be , what plays them, what files/folders , what sort are there. this is my first post here so please excuse any mistakes. I have been looking at many post & theres not much on sound, plenty on graphics. ill leave it there for now thanksThere's a sound folder in every aircraft folder. It has a sound.cfg that "alias's" off another sound file or sometimes its own individual sounds. The main sound file is located in the main FSX folder entitled "Sounds". This is where most of the default and addon developers put there sounds then link the sound to a sound.cfg. If you look in the main sound folder, you'll see sounds for ATC, precipitation, thunder, and lessons as well as individual sounds from developers. You can go into the sound folder and double click on any sound and listen to each one individually. If you want to do more research I recommend you Google sound for FSX or sound files for FSX or FSX sound and you should have plenty of reading.Best regards,Jim
October 27, 201015 yr Author Gday Jim How are you going mate, thanks for that, I have googled sounds, but nothing ,guess ill try again. Im new to computers & fsx. Ive looked at the sound files, they seem to be all over the place eg in the addons folder, in simobjects; where would an addon with its own sounds supposed to be? Ill tell you why ive got two addon plane that have sound issues, ive been to the their site ,no luck, ive looked at posts no luck, i should mention that ive got one other addon plane & it works perfectly, so these two from the same company are giving me headaches, funny thing is noone else is having the same trouble, its got me stuffed. Engine sounds are very important to me, i love the sound of a jet engine esp old jt9ds & ive been in them so i know what they should sound like. thanks anyway Jim ill keep looking jeff atkinson
October 27, 201015 yr Hi, You will soon find out the AVSIM file library is your best friend. I searched for a "JT9D" file and found this. If you haven't already done so you will have to register to gain access to the library. There are also a few files by Devyn Silverstein who's made several sound files for FS.I couldn't find any files for FSX but these will work fine, just follow the instructions in the readme.I'm curious as to how the sound files are missing from your aircraft. \Robert Hamlich/
October 28, 201015 yr Author Gday mate Thanks for that info, i found the library. Ive got sounds but the engine sounds are not right & there i are sound cone issues, like on the 707 as i increase the throttles the out side jet sounds can be head on the inside (this is very hard to explain) put it this way if you were standing outside & watching a plane go past you on take of that the sound i hear on the inside & when i turn the sound changes , again as if you were on the out side also on take off the engines dont get that turbine sound , when at full throttle, i know the sounds are there in the file because ive played them, you can hear that gorgous sound of the jet at full trot. Im getting the same with the 727 although it is far worse, doesnt sound like a jet at all, funny thing with the 727 is that if you load it twice you got the start up sound right only until you increase the throttle. Ive been on a 727 & i know what it should sound like & as for the 707 watched a you tube video , so i know what it sounds like, its pretty close (707) but theres not that sound they make when at full chat thanks again all jeff jeff atkinson
October 28, 201015 yr Yes those are the only ones available at the AVSIM library, I had a look at the FSX library and couldn't find anything. There is however a payware file although it is for the JT8D designed by Turbine Sound Studios sold through simmarket.com http://secure.simmarket.com/turbine-sound-studios-dc-9-jt8d-soundpack.phtmlThis soundpack is designed for FSX and I know they sound great I have purchased various packs myself. \Robert Hamlich/
October 29, 201015 yr Author Gday mate, Thanks mate, i saw that the other day,& was tempted, i have audio envirment ex airliner edition but there only for modern jets, be good if they bought out an old jet edition. The good thing with aee is that its easy to change the sounds of the default planes , because im not repeat not computer savvy, i tried a few of the aee sounds on the727 but just doesnt do it, anyway mate gotta go thanks again jeff atkinson
