FSX path

Featured Replies

Just because of too much hurry and a little carelessness while installing FSX in a new HDD I have the path set at I:\ Program Files.I am having no problems installing addons but I would prefer to have the default path set.In "regedit" the setup path is I:\ Program Files and I wondered if I could rename it, if not is there another way other than reinstalling FSX? I have a backup of all the FSX files and folders. cannylad

What Operating System are you using - XP, Vista or Win 7?If either of the latter you will be better off leaving it where it is - to avoid many of the "permission" issues associated with installing under the default Program files location.More details please.

Hi Opa,Nice to talk with you having downloaded some of your info over time.I am running XP Home just because I like it and not so sure about Win7.I really cannot believe how careless I was with this issue. Everything works just fine with my Path but I thought there may be future problems if I kept it.Cheers, cannylad.

In that case you should be able to move the Flight Simulator 9 folder (and everything it contains) to a location of your choice. Then use the free Registry Repair utility from the good folks at Flight1 to correct the path in the registry. There may be issues if you have already installed any aircraft or scenery which writes info to the Registry but if it is just a fresh install of FS2004, the procedure I mentioned should work properly. The Registry Repair utility can be downloaded here:http://www.flight1.c...sp?page=libraryHope that helps.

Hi Opa, Created new folders for FSX in the new HDD and copied over all the files in FSX into those folders, ran the Flight1 registry repair which I already had. I deleted the original Program Files and I now have the correct path. Many thanks for your help.cannylad, (an other addict)
