  1. I now have Administrative Tools from Seven Forum and had a little fun with Tweaking.com and a program called Windows Repair which took a little getting used to. All this took all of Sunday afternoon, shutdown for the night. Today I tried installing Rex4 and "Hey Presto" it it worked. I now have to screw up courage to see how it works. Meantime thanks to you Pete and Jim Young for your help, I was on the verge of giving up. Regards to you both, cannylad.
  2. To Pete and Jim, I have printed out instructions fom the websites you mentioned and downloaded some of the programs on them. Over this weekend, I shall go through the details of the programs snd hopefully come up with a result. Thanks to you two I feel a surge of "getup and go" I now have a better feeling of hope. Thank you Pete for your email which started me on this road. I don`t know how things will work out but I live in hope and will raise a glass of Highland nectar to you. Yours, Joe Mills (aka cannylad)
  3. Pete, I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that I am giving up on this and cutting my losses. I have been a member of the flightsim community since Microsofts first and have never come across an issue like this before. I have spent all my time since downloading Rex4 trying to resolve this and have not flown in this time. Thanks for your time on this. regards, cannylad
  4. I have been trying to install Rex4Direct without success for sometime now. The installation starts and carries on until near the end when the icon appears on desktop, then I get an error message telling me that"Windows Firewall cannot register the application".I click OK then the installation rolls back. I have installed a good firewall and disabled windows firewall, tried to install again with the same result. I`m running Win764bit as administrator. Any ideas as to a fix? cannylad
  5. I opened Windows Explorer , double clicked the exe file and away it went no problem except for a "No response" on one occasion. Scenery is brilliant, just looking forward to Scotflight update. Cheers, cannylad.
  6. I think you will find it is now shareware or payware, Harry. Do a Google for it. cheers, cannylad
  7. Christopher, Have a look at guru3d.com There is a very detailed description of SweetFX along with download. Its basically a shader program. cannylad
  8. Just had an email from Flightstore saying Scotland Central is on finals and will keep me posted when it is at the printers !!!! I must say I have not seen the bland areas you mention but I am using SweetFX so maybe that is the reason. Cheers, cannylad
  9. I have all the Playsims VFR scenery for Scotland and England/Wales and have been eagerly waiting on the last scenery for Scotland Central . It has been on pre-order since December last year and the delivery date has been pushed back month on month. Now Its latest delivery date is 15th of May. Does anyone out there have any idea what is happening with this software? cannylad

Well guys, today was my 82nd birthday and I have been simming since the first Microsoft disc came out. Quite a difference from todays offerings with beautiful aircraft and sceneries, I just wonder the future of this hobby and hope I have a few more years to see it. All the best to you fellow flight simmers, Cannylad
  12. I now have exhaust smoke from aircraft, I can only assume I have installed an fx. file somehow. How can I remove it? Andante
  13. Hi Opa, Created new folders for FSX in the new HDD and copied over all the files in FSX into those folders, ran the Flight1 registry repair which I already had. I deleted the original Program Files and I now have the correct path. Many thanks for your help.cannylad, (an other addict)
  14. Hi Opa,Nice to talk with you having downloaded some of your info over time.I am running XP Home just because I like it and not so sure about Win7.I really cannot believe how careless I was with this issue. Everything works just fine with my Path but I thought there may be future problems if I kept it.Cheers, cannylad.
  15. Just because of too much hurry and a little carelessness while installing FSX in a new HDD I have the path set at I:\ Program Files.I am having no problems installing addons but I would prefer to have the default path set.In "regedit" the setup path is I:\ Program Files and I wondered if I could rename it, if not is there another way other than reinstalling FSX? I have a backup of all the FSX files and folders. cannylad
