Windows XP SP3 update

Featured Replies

This is for my laptop, not my FSX rig that is running Win 7/64.My laptop runs XP Home/32, and recently was updated to SP3. However, since then I have had no connectivity to the internet. It appears as though the DNS is not working somehow. I have 3 other computers connected to the same router with no problems at all, and this issue seems to be consistent with the installation of SP3.I have searched the internet on another computer and found many references to an issue where SP3 causes issues with the DNS function, however even on the MS Support site I find very little, and no references to a specific fix where I have searched on the internet. If this was an issue with SP3 I would have expected MS to have modified the SP3 download patch.Has anyone heard of this- and does anyone have a reference to a MS patch to fix it- or any other fixes? Thanks, Bruce.

Also,Make sure you're getting a DHCP from your router (if that's how you get addresses inside your private network). Do a repair on your network stack and worst comes to worst remove the network card from bios, restart, re-build the net stack and you should be good.Chris
