Graphics corruption before full system crash

Good day all,I have been experiencing system crahses for the past few months and I am out of ideas on how to get things stable again.Since this started I have gone through many threads regarding fixes, tuning etc. I have reinstalled my pc using NickN's guide and settings and have followed those step by step. The problems started when using Vista 64 and now seem to continue after I upgraded to Win7 64. My PC specs:2x 1TB WD 72001x 500GB WD 7200Evga 780i MainboardQ9450 (2.66GHz running at 3.4GHz)8Gb (4x2) Kingston HyperX (1066) running at 800MHzWin 7 Ultimate 64 bit8800GTX With lastest driversWhat I have been getting is that the MD-11 suddenly starts showing very colorful vertical lines in the displays (about 8 or 10 evenly spaced ones on each display) and shortly after that the system freezes. Can't get back to windows, can't exit FSX... Only remedy is to hit the reset button on the front of the PC... This happens anywhere from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours into flight. CPU temps are quite acceptable at around 60C. One thing I didn't do exactly like NickN's guide is to NOT overclock before going through all the setup and steps but to do so only after everything is running. So, my last option is to reinstall everything again. But before I do that (I just did it 2 weeks ago) I am posting this in the hopes that someone can help me out with another possible suggestion.Any advice would be highly appreciated!

I don't think reinstalling FSX will fix your issue. Instead of uninstalling/reinstalling, it is recommended by several that you simply rename your FSX.cfg to FSX.old (or delete it), restart FSX, and let the config rebuild. If it's the PMDG MD-11, that takes up a lot of resources so you should keep your scenery sliders down at the minimum (the default settings will/should work). If this happens ONLY with the MD-11, that is probably the problem and it may not be installed properly. You might try reinstalling it making sure UAC is disabled when you do it. System starvation is not necessary as a result of the MD-11 as turning the water to the highest, the traffic to the highest, etc., etc., will also cause issues even on the best of systems. You might also go into your virtual memory settings on your system and change the default setting of Automatically managing the paging file to System Managed. For some reason this worked better for me on my system and we both have pretty much the same system. If you haven't already, I would also check on the PMDG forum and see if this issue has cropped up with other owners of the MD11 and see if they found a solution. Best regards,Jim

Hi Jim,I'm sorry for the extremely late reply! I haven't had too much time recently..Since my post I have been over to the Evga formums and found out that my mainboard bios was in desperate need of an update. Not only did my old bios have issues with some Nvidia cards, but also with more than 4Gb of memory and some of the Core2Quad CPU's!!So I installed that and redid my OC as advised by someone with the exact same setup as I have. I have it running stable at 3.4GHz now and tested last night with a 4.5 hour flight from KSFO to KJFK. I was amazed that things didn't crash on me after a couple of hours... only to be highly disappointed when I saw the windows 7 "thinking circle" appear after just having passed the outer marker on 13L and getting the message that FSX has encountered a fatal error.I intend to look for some CTD report tonight and see if I can figure out what caused it. But I am thinking the sliders should certainly be screwed down a ways...Thanks a lot for your reply, I'll let you know how it goes.
