November 7, 201015 yr Hello everybody, it's my first post on this forum.I have a little problem with my grass texture. I downloaded "Photorealistic Ground Detail" from here yesterday. When I look at it from short distance it looks quite good: http://img201.images...9277c9f1d0e.pngbut as the distance increase it becomes horrible:http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/3777/f84adc8b2769.pngI have Intel Core i5-650, GeForce GTX460 and 4GB RAM DDR3 and I use FSX with SP2 and some textures changed. All the FS' and also NVIDIA's settings are set to highest. I tried to decrease plane's and weather's details but it's still the same. Any ideas?
November 25, 201015 yr Ok, I decided to buy GEX + UTX but I'm still not satisfied with the effect. Daytime:http://zapodaj.net/i...d59a8ee666d.pngIt's not very bad, but at night:http://zapodaj.net/i...e4e15764d0b.pngIt's awful.I've heard about setting UT scenery files in Scenery Library under airports sceneries, I set like that but you can see how it looks. Maybe I should set it in other position? And also is it possible to change colour of city lights at night? I've flown in a plane in real as pasanger few times and as I remember they look orange on more shiny, not yellow like here:http://zapodaj.net/i...8d55ac48f40.png
December 14, 201015 yr Uninstall your photo real grass, I did something similar (REX hi-def grass textures) and got the same result and couldn't figure out why. Stumbled across something on a GEX or UTX forum and Nick said GEX or UTX wasn't designed to go with what I installed. I suspect it's the same thing with you. I removed what I had installed and everything looks fine again.
December 14, 201015 yr Thank you for your reply, but it refers to problem from first pos, yeh?. I've resolved it some time ago, and still have hi-def grass :D Unfortunately even when I back up orginal detail1 file, the problem from second post is still unresolved - I mean those weird pink or other color blots, which are showing on the clouds also. And it applies to night only.
December 28, 201015 yr The grass thing looks somehow normal to me if one uses this detailed texture and enables "land detail textures" in FSX. This shouldn't affect the clouds though. But as PFL said, we currently can't access your cloud pictures to see if something is wrong there. If your cloud problems are related to this texture usage (which is unlikely to happen), try to uncheck "land detail textures" to stop that one texture from showing up. Would be interesting to know if this helps you.
December 28, 201015 yr For me those screens works, but no problem. Here are new ones:Day grass:DayIt's not beautiful but it's ok. Night grass in same place:Night grassSee those pink-yellow blots? Also look at lighten part. Light isn't smooth but it's striped. Here clouds:Day onesAnd:Night onesThey're not smooth too. They look horrible same as grass.
December 28, 201015 yr I don't know if my posting here is useful to you, but I hope so.GrassI don't know about this special (grass) texture you are using but the generic representation of grass looks really normal to me.The night shot is normal too. You don't see any grass there so far, only on the top of the screen your aircraft lights illuminate a part of it. Normal again. What do you mean with "pink-yellow blots"? The only somehow pink items I see are the aircraft cabin lights and the yellow stuff are the taxiway signs of that airport.Your lights are "striped" because you have different light sources on your aircraft. What you see is the default representation of the light beams in FSX. The overlap with very clear boarders, so the actual view gets somehow striped.CloudsThe day ones don't look beautiful but normal again.I can't see any night ones. I took your picture to fullscreen but it's too dark there to catch up on the clouds for me. :blush:What did you expect clouds and grass to look like if there is no light around? I could be wrong but I think that you are getting mixed up by the default way of FSX showing you nights and the default scenery there.Maybe I'll do some shots on my system later to show you some comparison, if that helps you.
December 28, 201015 yr I think that you don't see what I see because of differences in monitors. I can see more grass, not only at the top of picture, and also I can see clouds at night. I know how overlap of lights in FSX look like but I also see horizontal. Same effect I have on two other monitors I tested.
December 28, 201015 yr This could well be of course. I'll just go for some shots of my default scenery (REX enabled, meaning runways, taxiways and clouds come from it) and you can compare, ok? I'll take out the default Airbus there and you will be free to judge.Note that I don't have any special grass texture installed there, so you will see quite some blurry stuff. "Land detail textures" is not checked too.So here they are. Day and Night, with and without clouds visible.
December 28, 201015 yr I just have to check one thing. I had my FTX Mode set to on as I took those shots of default scenery. I'm currently testing if "off" there gives me a big difference.Tested. Doesn't change things on default scenery here.So I hope that at least the striped landing lights and the "pink-yellow blots" get an explanation here. The cloud stuff can be changed by going for freeware ones from the Avsim library or e. g. REX (payware). You will have more than a few variations to chose there.Maybe I'll take another shot with that detailed grass texture from REX installed. Here it is.No big and impressive change there so just an informational posting
December 28, 201015 yr Well on your screens it looks bad too. Maybe I have == I am an idiot! == monitor. I'll be trying to find best settings for it. Thanks for help.
