October 17, 200322 yr I just installed the AeroDesigns A340-300 for FS2004 and it's a marvelous aircraft, however I have 2 major problems. This is what my cockpit looks like when I first start a flight:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/43705.jpgAs you can see, all the panel additions such as the pedestal are popped up. I have to close them all one by one everytime I want to fly the A340.You will also notice that the gauges are missing. Now I know this aircraft was designed for FS2002, but I heard it works for FS2004 without problems. It couldn't have been an installation error on my part since it's simply an installer that installs all the file components. In the installer, the only thing I did different was change the directory from the default C:Program FilesMicosoft GamesFS2002 to C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9.It installed flawlessly from what I can tell. I went into the aircraft folder in my FS9 directory, and found the AeroDesigns A340 right where it should be. I didn't check the Gauges folder as I don't know what gauges were installed and I assume if the plane was installed, then the gauges were installed. Like I said, the installer did everything.I'm using Windows XP Professional and I have FSUIPC 3.10 installed also.I also have the new FS2004 FDE update and installed.I'm using other FS2002 planes such as the POSky 743, 744 and MelJet 777 and they all work flawlessly. Now for the 2nd problem I'm having.I installed two of the AeroDesign livery packs, Air Tahiti Nui and Lufthansa. Again, they are self-installers and the only thing I changed was I changed the default directory which was C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002aircraftAerodesigns A340-313 to C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9AircraftAerodesigns A340-313 and let the installer do everything else. Both liveries are not showing up. When I launch FS9 and select the AeroDesigns A340, I only have the default House Livery available.I also checked the C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9AircraftAerodesigns A340-313 directory, and both the Air Tahiti Nui and Lufthansa textures are installed. But for some reason they are not showing up.Either I'm unlucky, or for some reason I was told wrong and the truth is the AeroDesigns A340 does not like FS2004.Any help would be greatly appreciated. I REALLY want to fly this amazing bird.Regards
October 17, 200322 yr OK to answer you're first question, see the pedistal that is popped up it has 4 white buttons at the top in between the 2 FMC screens. The #2 and #3 button has to be clicked then it will turn on everything displaywise :)For you're second problem, I think you need to check the aircraft.cfg that the proper texture folders you have added are noted in there.I.e. the texture=name of folder line and the (fltsm #.) is correct. House livery should have (fltsim 0.) so next one would be .1 and so on.Example snippit of what I have in mine aircraft.cfg after the house livery:[fltsim.1] <-- this one is important, should follow the previous numbertitle=AeroDesigns A340-300 Lufthansasim=CFM56_340_AD-V1.2model=3classpanel=sound=texture=Lufthansa <-- This one is important as well, should have name of texture folder.
October 17, 200322 yr Thanks for your reply.I checked my Aircraft.cfg and for some odd reason, this is all I have:[ fltsim.0 ]title=AeroDesigns A340-300 HOUSE LIVERY/BASE PACKsim=CFM56_340_AD-V1.2model=3classpanel=sound=texture=HOUSEkb_checklists=CheckList_A343_AeroDesignskb_reference=Reference_A343_AeroDesignsatc_id=F-WWIAatc_id_color=0xffffffffatc_airline=AIRBUSatc_flight_number=ui_manufacturer=AeroDesignsui_type=Airbus A340-300ui_variation=BASE PACK / HOUSE LIVERYatc_heavy=1description=AeroDesigns ReleaseThe Air Tahiti Nui and Lufthansa did not add their own in the Aircraft.cfgHowever, I just remembered something. RIGHT after the livery installer completed and I exited the installer, the installer gave me this error:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/43717.jpgI have a feeling the above error is the reason why I am not able to fly the different liveries.Regarding the panel, thanks for answering that for me. However, are ALL the panel pop-ups supposed to be popped up? Is there a way I can make it so ONLY the main panel is displayed and if I want to pop up the pedestal or any of the other pop-ups, I can do so whenever I want to?Regards
October 17, 200322 yr Any setting in the panel.cfg that will allow this plane to initialize with engines started? its a bit of a pain in the arse to have to start the engines every time. (I know how to do it, but sometimes dont want to fool with it.)Eric AND
October 17, 200322 yr Im not sure about how to make it open up without the auto-pop up actually. Im sure it can be changed somewhere in the panel folder but i havent really looked into that since im happy with it starting out "cold" like that. Maybe somebody else is the wiser on this issue :)Ok, about the runtime error, I think i had the same one coming up when installing extra liveries. The program tries to automatically add the lines into the aircraft.cfg file but fails for some reason.I remember it did make a folder called cfg where the textures was unpacked and inside there it put the cfg file with the lines to add. It was without a line though so important to add that one when copying it over to the real aircraft.cfg.So try to install the livery pack again to some temp directory and look out for the folder in that named cfg.Hope it will work :)
October 17, 200322 yr Thanks a lot for your help.Yes, I found the cfg folder. Although for some strange reason it only had the lines for the Lufthansa livery. So I made my own lines for the Air Tahiti Nui livery. Hopefully it'll work. I'll try it out now.I also like the cold start up. What I don't like is how there are 5 extra panels opened in addition to the main panel.Oh well, I guess I'll have to live with it. Although for some strange reason, it seems like it's a bug? I understand the gauges being off (since the cockpit is actually off like you told me), but having all the instrument panels popped up seems like a bug.Oh well.Again, thanks for your help. :)
October 17, 200322 yr You're welcome, glad it worked out. The cfg folder by the way only remembers the last livery install made, forgot to mention that hehe :D
October 17, 200322 yr Thanks CargoMun,I discovered one problem in the panel. After turning on the 2 switches in the pedestal like you said, all gauges showed up except the one next to the Primary Flight Display (PFD):http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/43720.jpgAs you can see, I can see the runway through it. Either I'm missing a gauge, or the gauge is incompatible with FS2004, or there is a problem in the panel.cfg which is not showing up this gauge.I also discovered another problem. In the Virtual Cockpit, NONE of the gauges are being displayed:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/43721.jpgThis is very strange. I've never had so many problems in an aircraft....Regards
October 17, 200322 yr http://skynews.myhost.lu/forum/There's a link to the Aerodesign Forums, they have a Support forum there!
October 18, 200322 yr Dont know about the VC gauges i cant get them to show either but i dont fly using it either :DThe hole in the panel is caused by the panel using the GPS from FS2002, i think shift-2 or one of the other numbers bring up the regular gauge :)
October 18, 200322 yr Thanks.I think I heard a few months ago that the panel and gauges aren't FULLY FS2004 compatible which is why they aren't showing up properly in either the 2D panel or the VC.Hopefully they'll come out with an update soon.Regards
October 18, 200322 yr Author While this a topic of conversation, has the gauge problem been sorted out? I insatlled A340 shortly after it was released - FS2K2 - but everytime I tried to load the aircraft, it totally locked up the PC and I had to reboot. There was some discussion that there was a problem with one of the gauges, and that they were hoping to fix this. I never saw any feedback either here or on their site.Does anyone know whether this ever got sorted?David
October 20, 200322 yr To turn off the "Auto-open" of the ped and overhead panels. Open the panel.cfg file look for window03 and window04, under each window in a line visable=1 change the 1 to a zero. :-outta http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/User_files/3e72a43942b48d2b.jpg There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".- unknown "My daddy gives me up, to fight for you"- a US Military Members Child
