What to edit to increase N1 in aircraft's .cfg file?

Featured Replies

I have a great looking third party a/c that has unrealistically low N1 in all phases of flight. I want to raise the N1 readings with all the implications I know this will have for fuel flow, etc. In one prior case, when I wished to change the N1 to a higher percentage, I was advised to change the engine inlet ratio and that worked great on that particular a/c; but in this case, changing the inlet area seems to have little to no effect. Is there any other factor within the aircraft.cfg file I should be looking at in this case?Appreciate any advice, thanks!JS

It could be a combination of too much thrust and the inlet ratio may be incorrect, also the .air file could have inaccurate numbers in it.I suggest you keep tweaking and maybe even try a different .air file for the same aircraft type if one is availble as various drag settings could be too low causing the aicraft to fly without the proper thrust needed (too little). The flight tuning section of the aircraft cfg can also impact gauge readings. I have noticed when the cruise_lift_scalar is more or less then 1 (0.5 or 1.5) it impacts N1 amongst other gauge readings. These are just some things to look at, but there are many more that can cause your problem.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer

Hey Van:Thanks for your reply. I checked the Inlet Area again and realized I was moving it the wrong way...! I am now moving in the right direction and getting N1 close to the manufacturer's specs. Only thing is fuel flow remains quite a way off (too low) but the N1 is working a great deal better now.The flight tuning settings for this bird are all 1.000 and seem to be OK -- although what the heck do I know about this stuff (?!)Thanks again for posting.JS

JSThis may help. There's a fuel flow scalar parameter in the Aircraft.cfg file that you could increase to increase fuel burn. Regards,Dave Vega
