November 23, 201015 yr Just thought I'd share this article I found for those of you considering upgrading to Sandy Bridge in January. The author's math was a bit wrong - here's the corrected prices:i5 2300 - $227i5 2400 - $236i5 2500 - $257i5 2500K - $270i7 2600 - $363i7 2600K - $387Obviously these prices are speculative. I know several people were concerned the k models would be much more expensive - the above should bring some relief! November 26, 201015 yr Author Apparently the prices are even better than above! I know what my new build is going to look like:CPU: i7-2600kRAM: 8GB DDR3 1600GPU: nVidia Kepler (to be released 2011)Source:[EXPreview] Price And Release Day Of Intel Sandy Bridge Processor Confirmed Corey Meeks FS2020 | AMD 7800X3D | ASUS ProArt 4080 Super | ASUS B650E-I Mini ITX | 2x32Gb DDR5-6000 CL32 | DELL 38" U3818DW (3840x1600) | FormD T1 | Thermalright AXP90-47 | Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 1000W
November 26, 201015 yr Note pricing is in in "Ku", i.e. "thousands of units", so those low, low proces are not available for us retail simmers :-(Cheers,- jahman.

November 27, 201015 yr Will they be able to Overclock ?It depends on the MoBo, because a Pentium core could pushed to 4GHz even. As long as the base clock of the board can be raised it is possible to overclock. Paul Gluck. November 27, 201015 yr Will they be able to Overclock ?Absolutely! Especially the more expensive "K" models: The K stands for "UnlocKed Multiplier".Cheers,- jahman.
November 27, 201015 yr Author The K series should overclock very well. There have been a few reports of the i7-2600k being overclocked to 5GHz on air. While I doubt 5GHz is stable for 24/7 use, I imagine 4.5+ will be easily attainable and a watercooling system will no longer be necessary to do it.If we go by the Anandtech Sandy Bridge preview article, which states about a 10% performance improvement clock for clock over i7-9xx series chips, then a Sandy Bridge chip clocked at 4.5GHz will be like running a i7-9xx chip at 5GHz. As for the non K series, I've heard rumors that the multiplier will be unlocked up to or a little above the turbo. In all reality, nothing is truly confirmed until it comes out of Intel's mouth. We'll just have to wait till January 9th when these things are due out.
