November 24, 201015 yr After flying the PMDG MD-11 perfectly fine in FSX for at least 100 hours I am now having a unique problem. After t/o in straight and level flight above the necessary altitude I engage the autopilot. The problem is that the nose continues to pitch up beyond that prescribed by the flight director until it stalls. I have Rex2 (Wx engine turned off), Active Sky Evolution, FSUIPC with weather off and FSInn with weather off. I've tried reinstalling pretty much everything to no avail.Any thoughts on solving this would be greatly appreciated.Ted Belden Ted Belden
November 24, 201015 yr Commercial Member If you're using a flight yoke/stick, make sure to cancel out the trim setting before activating the AP.Also, are you priming the AP on the ground?Your best bet is to try the tutorial and check to make sure following the procedure by the book isn't going to help. If it fixes something, chances are your procedure was just incorrect at some point down the line. I'm not saying that to be demeaning. I'm just offering you a few things to look at and check to help in troubleshooting. Kyle Rodgers
November 24, 201015 yr Author Thanks Kyle. I am using a yoke. How do you cancel out the trim setting? Yes I do prime the AP on the ground. I have a checklist that I follow and it worked fine until recently. I thought it might be the interaction of the weather programs.Ted Belden If you're using a flight yoke/stick, make sure to cancel out the trim setting before activating the AP.Also, are you priming the AP on the ground?Your best bet is to try the tutorial and check to make sure following the procedure by the book isn't going to help. November 24, 201015 yr Commercial Member With my setup, I use an elevator trim axis assigned to my flightstick. I set it using an actual trim wheel, so before I enable the AP, I just roll the wheel back to zero. Whatever you are using to set your takeoff trim, just do the opposite. Some hardware will have easier fixes than others. In my case, I had a similar scenario in which the AP and yoke would argue back and forth and the aircraft would porpoise as a result. You can also set an option in the PMDG options menu to override the yoke if the AP is enabled. Kyle Rodgers
November 24, 201015 yr Author Well, here's what I did and that seemed to do the trick. I had fairly recently set the Joystick Sensitivity for LSAS/RCWS to Heavy to add some realism. I also had set the Controls Joystick Override to Always and the Elevators/Ailerons/Rudder to Always. I set the sensitivity to Medium and the other two to Never. I don't know which one solved it or if it was something else, but your suggestion about the options got me looking at it.Thanks!Ted Belden Ted Belden
