December 1, 201015 yr Folks I will be repalcing my CFG file, today. What is correct way to do this? Should I just insert the changes into the current file, should I delete the current CFG file completely and then insert a new CFG note pad file? What is the best manner?I will also be adding the Buffer pool and Affinity Mask=14 suggestions to my file. Thanks,John
December 1, 201015 yr John, there's no need to make things complicated here. :smile:Just backup your current file by e. g. copying the fsx.cfg to your desktop. You can then alter every setting in the not-desktop located one, replace it with for example Bojote's generated one, delete it completely to allow Fsx to rebuild a fresh and clean one, and so on.You can't really mix up vital things here and even if you do so, just use your backup and start new.If you are anxious about some "old" settings in your current config, I suggest to start with a fresh and new fsx.cfg file and maybe use Bojote's solution on it. The backup advise still remains of course.
December 1, 201015 yr Copy it to the desktop (so you have a back up somewhere handy), then open the original up and make your changes and save them. If it all goes horribly wrong, drag the back up copy in there from your desktop and you'll be back to how it was and ready for another crack at it if necessary.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
