Out of curiosity

Featured Replies

I just reinstalled my system and got FS2004 on a seperate HD (I paid for this thing so I might a well keep trying to make it work as best as possible...)I am curious what everyones framerates are at KSEA default during day in the Kingair... EVERYTHING maxed out, 100% AI traffic, minimum vis and cloud draw distance, autogen at very dense. Sitting on the runway I am getting 17fps, if I do a right hand circuit and come into land I fall down to 9-11fps on final. Just wondering what everyone else is getting in this situation..is this the "norm"??P4 2.4 @ 2.9Leadtek Ti4200 30.82 with rivatuner512 MB DDR RAM

Interesting. There are a couple of other variables you did not mention. Here's how I have them set. All else is as you specified, although I had to use the GPS so I could find the airport! Also, isn't a left-hand pattern more standard? Just curious why you chose a right-hand one. Anyway, here goes:-Trilinear Filtering-MipMap Slider: 4-Hardware Lights: 6-Resolution: 1600x1200x32 (Desktop was 1024x768 going in, if that matters)-Fair Weather-Installed Addon's: FSGenesis 38.2m terrain (all USA) & Landclass, CS727, PMDG 737NG, Realair 172Sitting on runway FPS (engines on, no GPS): 25-26 (locked at 35)Back on final after right circuit, gear down, GPS on, autopilot off: 18-20Now I'm curious what others are seeing. I don't think it's totally scientific, but still interesting.sjP4 3.2GhzIntel 875P, 800 FSB, Dual-channel RAM motherboard512x2 PC3200 RAMATI Radeon 9800Pro 256Mb (Catalyst 3.8)120Gb 7200RPM HDSoundblaster Audigy221" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro monitorMS FF2 Joystick

Yeah I forgot a few things I guess... same other settings as you have mentioned expect no additional scenery installed.I was also using Runway 34R..thus the right pattern to stay away from 34L, if its a right circuit or not I dunno..I gotta live by Transport rules everyday so I get my chance to break the rules here :) When I switched to 34L I did get an increase up to the 20-22 area when sitting.. were you using 34L?? I hope so or my frame rates really stink compared to you!!Thanks,Chris

Chris: Sorry, I forgot about the L/R runways; you're absolutely right about the right-hand pattern. And, yes, I did fly a right-handed one. Also, were you using the auto-pilot? I wasn't but think it may use up some processor cycles. By the way, thanks for turning me on the Kingair. That was the very first time I'd flown it and it was pretty cool.sj

hi chrishave you read the post about the autogen bugs.the fix is to rename the xml file in the autogen directory to default.xmlbac(or similar)and this fixes the slowdown problem.its to do with some of the autogen objects multiplying, when you turn back from the way you came.ie flying from an airport and then returning to it..its only some of the autogen buildings and this solves the problem..try it and if no difference, you can rename your xml file back to original name. hope this helps steveukps you might have done this already!!!

I downloaded the newer file from the library here that deleted the fastfood joints, and I turned autogen down a bit.. I'm aware of the renaming post, just haven't tried it as of yet.. was hoping to give it a go with stuff enabled, guess that just isn't gonna happen!!Thanks,Chris
