I have just changed from a MSI GTX285 to a Palit GTX460 and I find I cannot fly using full screen when in Windowed mode. It actually reduces in size giving a 4cm black strip down either side of the screen. If however I use DX10 it is OK.Has anyone got any ideas what is going on please?regardsRichard.

Hey Rgbinns. Have got the resolution inside FSX running as the same as your Graphics Driver? This may be your problem. Joe Rafferty

Not knowing the reason for your new hardware, but just in case your within 30 day return policy, you are likey to find out that your 285 was in fact a better card for FX than that 460, the 460 has a bit higher clock, but the 285 has much higher memory bandwidth and is a fraction more powerful in DX9/DX10.If you really want an upgrade on the cheap, wait just about a week more when the 570 comes out, get that or as the then much cheaper 470.

Sounds like your monitor is resizing when it shouldn't...

I hope the OP uninstalled then re-installed his graphics card drivers when he upgraded his graphics card? Sounds like the driver is re-sizing the image for 4:3 screens ans it should be 16:10.

I did uninstall the drivers before putting the new card in. I am not that bothered because I prefer to use Windowed mode.Trust me to get something that is not better than what I had. I must admit I cannot see any improvement at all. I just read how the 460 was so good with FSX.The Palit does some strange things when starting up a flight like the plane appears slowly in bits and pieces and the clouds as square blocks for a few seconds.I was amazed at how small the Palit is compared to the 285. 4cm shorter! ( oh thats what wrong with fullscreen - the Cards is to short!!! :He He: :He He: :He He: I think I will take your advice and return it and wait for the 570. How much better would that be than the 285?RegardsRichard

Glad you still have the chance to return it.570 will enable more smooth flight under load as well as handle more eyecandy to a better and noticable degree. The 570=480 but much improved and quieter at much less cost.

Seeing I only use my computer for FSX I have reinstalled Windows and FSX and I can now fly fullscreen if I want. What that prob was all about goodness knows!Thank you for your help.I could not help noticing your VERY impressive set up. WOW, I can only dream of such things! Also I noted you have the FPS counter OFF. Another of my dreams. I have tried soooooo many times to keep it off but I always weaken. Must try again.regardsRichard
