  1. Thanks, I couldn't see the wood for the trees.
  2. Hi All, I have recently noticed that whenever I point my cursor at an instrument I get a descriptive flag appear near the cursor. I have obviously done something to switch this behaviour on but I have no clue what that was. Can anyone tell me how to turn these instrument descriptions off, please.
  3. I have been flying the QW757 for some time. Just recently things have changed because I now get a function tag/label displaying when I hover the cursor over a cockpit instrument. Can some one point me in the right direction on how to switch these tags off. I am not sure whether they are an MS Flightsim thing or a QW thing, I just want them gone. Thanks in anticipation.
  4. If by Speedbrake you mean the Spoilers or Lift dumpers then I have no problem arming them and they auto deploy on landing however I do use a joystick to send the key codes to the sim. If I want to use them in the air then I use the mouse to drag them to my required position. Never been a problem.
  5. I agree with the QW choice.
  6. Yes, once we got the Z80 all our dreams came true!
  7. I would like to add my thanks to howevr. I installed new version couldn't see the tool icon and ran all the way back to the previous #. Now I can re-install the new version and breath a sigh of relief in the knowledge that the globe is still revolving.
  8. I just went over to Win10 with an FSX install that was commenced when Acceleration hit the scene and hasn't been taken down since. I had no problems with the transition although my add on mix is slightly different to yours. Keep in mind that you can always revert back to Win 7. I don't know the details but from what I gather Win10 will allow users to revert to Win7 for up to 3 months after the Win10 upgrade. Of course if take a complete system backup before upgrading you can rest easy because a return yo Win7 is always possible.
  9. I still have my earlier HOTAS Cougar which lasted more then ten years before I bought a HOTAS Warthog some years ago. You get what you pay for and the Warthog is very well constructed and I am sure it will last a long time (probably longer than me). So I don't think you have any need to worry in that regard.
  10. I am writing using my Dell 3014 right now. You won't regret it, they are luvley jubbley.
  11. It may be a poor substitute but there is always SimPlates X Ultra for Android.
  12. I have Dell U3014 @ 2560 x 1600 and I am very satisfied with DP connection.
  13. @ AWACS Maybe you should be looking for a DP port as that's the latest and I think the best.
  14. Stan, From memory I think yes, but I normally fly around North America. Its nice to land somewhere in the Northern States, in our summer, and everything is absolutely covered in snow in Flightsim when it is over 110F outside my house, makes one feel cool.
  15. Ah the first day of spring has arrived, thank goodness. Have a good winter all you northern hemisphere inhabitants. On man's fish etc.
  16. Have you checked the library today, it has Memphis by Guess who?
  17. I have a set of these but don't use them. They are just a load of press buttons which I don't need for FSX then you need to manufacture a cardboard index with the button functions on it that is placed behind the plain glass screen. There are a few ready made backing cards supplied but that is all. Do not fall for the trap in thinking that there are useable screens in this equipment. You will also need to use TMs Target software to map the buttons to functions.
  18. I guess it depends on what one is used to. The big problem I have found is proving that the new Ai Repaints work and on more than one occasion I have been caught out by an AI aircraft that won't work properly which is only found out by a process of trail and error, nice if you are over an hour into a flight and flight simulator just stops working for no apparent reason. Its a great reason to take a backup before trying out new repaints and AI aircraft. Like a lot of new methods it only appears complicated to get started after that it is all downhill. It would certainly be advantageous to have some sort of test facility to check out AI aircraft for UT2. But at least with UT2 AI replacements are allowed.
  19. Sorry Jim but I must disagree. Here's a tip for the OP. Starting from the point where you have downloaded an Ai repaint and aircraft and placed the Ai Aircraft folder in the appropriate folder in your FSX installation. Open your AI aircraft folder and change the aircraft manufacturers name in the aircraft configuration file to something you will recognise such as "My AI". Ok, now open the UT2 app. and click on the Aircraft repaints selection Select <traffic> options then the appropriate equipment type and carrier, (assuming your doing a commercial aircraft repaint) after selecting the "UT Weekly official DB" from the top right hand side of the UT2 Screen. Now turn your attention to the "Select Aircraft manufacturer" field below and find your Manufacturer (in this case using my example it would be "My AI". You should now have all your repaints together in a list (because you have given them all the same manufacturers name) so select the aircraft that you are going to use for this UT2 aircraft type and carrier and then select add to assignments. You will see its name added to the aircraft list near the bottom of the page Now you aircraft is added you can fill in the Max usage field. "unlimited" is often the go for commercial aircraft. You can now remove the original repaint by selecting the original aircraft and then selecting remove by clicking on the remove field. By giving all your aircraft the same manufacturers name which relates to your repaints you can check that they are all seen by UT2 and will make your repaint selections much easier to find.. All that remains now is to check your new repaint out. The problem here is finding an example you can actually see to ensure that all is well and that's not so easy. You could always put a temporary panel configuration in the aircraft file and try selecting it from the FSX initial screen to check that it appears OK. Don't forget to remove the panel configuration file after you have checked though. Be warned that if your AI aircraft is NBG you may find that FSX may stop mysteriously when you in the middle of a flight because behind the scenes UT2 cannot load or display the aircraft. I hope that this helps in your endeavours.
  20. Yes, I would enjoy having a look at your sound.cfg file for the RR sound set. Please post. Thanks
  21. Which can be done with ADE and AFX.
  22. I use the TM TARGET software OK. I guess it depends on the A/C your flying and its software design whether TARGET would do the job that your after. If you can do what you want with the keyboard then you can do it with TARGET.
  23. I agree, I have used all three options, Stock, AES & GSX and for me GSX is the best and does most to add to the simulation.
  24. I use my own TARGET profile with Warthog to use in FSX. Mostly flying the QW757 and I have had no problems with independent throttles reverse thrust etc.
