December 4, 201015 yr I've been adding a lot of scenery lately, both payware (as in the World Airport series, FlyTampa's US Airports1 and Seattle, and Aerosoft's France 2) and freeware. I've seen my frame rate drop from the low 20s to half that and more. I've tried adjusting the texture, autogen, AI traffic, and weather settings. It seems like, particularly with the first three items, making drastic reductions results in little, if any, improvement in the frame rate. I think some of the aircraft I have may be partly to blame. The Fokker Project's F28 in particular is a HUGE memory hog causing my frame rate while using the ONT2006 scenery for KONT drop from 10 or 12 fps to less than 5 after loading a F28 (which is a super neat plane otherwise!) whereas PF's F100/70 aircraft seem to have a minimal impact on frame rate. In fact, reducing the texture, autogen and AI aircraft to near zero instead of resulting in an improvement in the frame rate actually causes the FP do drop even more! Setting texture to normal or even sparse not only doesn't seem to improve frame rate much, if at all, but also causes scenery details, like jetways or AI aircraft, to disappear defeating the purpose of having detailed scenery in the first place! My system has a 2.2Gz cpu and a 512mb GeForce 7600 GS graphics card.At any rate, I could use some suggestions on how to get my frame rate back up to the 20s (at least over 10)while preserving scenery detail as much as possible! What, too, if anything, can be done about PF's F28 to minimize it's own impact on the frame rate?

See here under "F28 support": http://fokker.avsim.net/F28.htm. Worked for me.

Thanks for reminding me, I'll check it out asap!

Now if I could only boost my frame rate back up to 20+ while flying into/out of any the World Airports, WAP2, WAP3, US Airports, my FlyTampa airports or ONT2006, LBG2010, SMF2008,and Sunskyjet_KPHL (just to name a few of my freeware airports)....(without having to replace my entire system!...

Sorry to tell you my friend, but you may need to start putting pennies in the jar for an upgrade! :( ps. I admire you for persevering at all with FS at those frame rates. Anything below 18 FPS and I just lose interest - it's not flying anymore, it's more like trying to teach someone to drive a stick shift car! One of the awesome feelings of real world flying is the freedom you feel when you move the controls and the airplane responds smoothly to your input. If it isn't fluid, FS is just no fun for me.Good luck with tweaking your present system - hope someone can help you

Not unless I win the Publisher's Clearing house Sweepstakes and *that* ain't going to happen anytime soon!
