December 6, 201015 yr I think I've reached a point in FSX where uninstalling everything/reinstalling everything is no longer an option (read several days/weeks worth of re-installing aircraft, scenery, textures, etc. etc.) -- my add-ons list is pretty extensive with many aircraft from PMDG, JustFlight, Aerosoft, and more. Along with scenery from MegaScenery folks. Textures/weather from ActiveSky Advanced, Ultimate TerrainX, and more. Controllers from GoFlight and CH Products. In other words, A LOT of stuff, and some of it doesn't always get along and might need some "adjustments".Specifically, I recently ran into some problems that I just can't seem to resolve:1. Graphics - scenery "splitting" where sections of scenery move out of synch with other sections (not a frame rate problem as I manage a low of 17 fps to a high of 41 fps - locked).2. Installed PMDG 747 and it's caused problems with auto pilot and throttle sensitivity in other aircraft (which I think is a known problem, but uninstalling PMDG 747 didn't solve it)I came across TweakFS series and thought that it might be a handy tool all-in-one tool for fixing these types of issues.Setup a poll to see what other's think and if the $55 investment in the TweakFS suite of tools is worth it.Thanks, Rob.Side note: hardware wise I'm doing Ok, Quad Core CPU QX9770 @ 4 Ghz, 1600Mhz RAM, two ATI 5870's, 448GB worth of fast SSD drives, 30" LCD running 2560 x 1600 resolution.
December 6, 201015 yr Nope, personally I wouldn't.Take for example this quote from the product description: 'With TweakFPS you avoid the need for moving sliders and settings back and forth', well, with saving the graphics settings via the FSX capability that is already built into the GUI, you avoid that need as well, and you don't have to spend a cent to do that, and really, moving a slider is hardly an arduous task, is it? That's basically true of all of the tweaks, they're the same as the various 'FSX boosters' and 'game boosters' you can find, they don't do anything you couldn't do manually for yourself with the task manager and a bit of thought.Of course some people might like the convenience and some people seem to like tweaking more than flying, and if that's the case and they want to spend the money then fair enough, but I really don't think it is so inconvenient as to warrant paying to automate selecting settings, since once it is done, it is done.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Have you used/tried any of the TweakFS products? If so, did they help or hurt? I agree that setting FSX sliders isn't a major task, but as there is much more available in the FSX.CFG (and some commands not in it by default) that FSX sliders do not modify. I thought it might be a good place to start resolving issues as the TweakFS suite also works with scenery files, aircraft files, and more. But the product appears to provide helpful information about the many settings available ... given that FSX is now an aged product (some may debate it was an aged product before it was released) and hardware has moved forward, my assumption/guess is that some of the "default" setting may not be relevant and/or need adjustments for to today's hardware -- something FSX development team couldn't possibly predict. This package looks to be an easy way to take all the tweaks/guides written about FSX over the years and put into a single application suite for quick and easy access to changing the settings along with the ability to restore settings very quickly.I agree that this product is perhaps something can be done by hand (via Notepad) as needed and set, but it's pretty rare my hardware and FSX environment remain static ... it's an evolving product (even if FSX team is officially retired). I'm not necessarily into tweaking, but I do want to get the most out of my flying experience with FSX and my numerous add-ons.Rob
December 6, 201015 yr Use bojote's automated tweaking tool. If that is, you feel the need.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/318918-automated-tweaking-and-tuning-tool-for-fsx/
