REX Textures

Featured Replies

Sorry if this is a dumb question but ...I bought REX and am experimenting with Theme Creation. I took one of the pre-installed themes (Pristine Tropics) and installed it in FS9 (lots of files copied over.)How does FS9 'know' when to use this theme? The only 'Choose Theme' option in FS9 I could find related to weather. How does FS9 distinguish between different themes I might install?TIA

FS9 doesn't. Rex replaces the FS9 default scenery and that is what it uses. That's what you are doing when you install the theme. replacing FS9 default scenery. FS9 uses what ever scenery theme you choose to install.
Torkermax: thanks. So, if, as REX allows, I have different themes with, say, different water themes, how does FS9 which water theme to choose, when there may be several?I'm just showing my ignorance - of both FS9 and REX - here!

It choses the last one you installed, eg, if you installed one theme with clouds of a certain type, then re-open REX, and then install different clouds again, then it will use the last set of clouds installed. You can also "unselect" which options to install etc, eg don't have to install clouds next time, this way you will only have to modify other aspects eg water and it will use old clouds or what ever.Hope it helps. REX is pretty straight forward...

I see - I think! So what happens to all the files that were copied over to FS9 during a previous install (in my example the 'Pristine Tropics' theme)? Do they stay there or do they get overwritten by the new theme?

Hi,They get overwritten. Think of REX as a texture installer.

Jim: thanks. That's clear now.
