Trying to make use of second monitor

Featured Replies

Hello Gents,I've never tried this but I thought if possible, it would be cool to display my FMS on a second monitor. I have a laptop I use for both FS9 and FSX but after plugging in the second monitor, the best I can get is my desktop displayed on the second monitor. The icons/folders are absent and I have no mouse on the other monitor, so even if I could get part of the sim to show up there, I'd have no way of manipulating the device. Is this generally possible without some other additional device? My video card is an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT and I have Windows Vista.Edit: okay, I got the second monitor to work by selcting the clone option from my video card menu. But I still cannot differentiate between the two monitors. In other words, I can't have the one monitor display anything different from the default screen. If I have the 2D cockpit on the first screen, I'd like to have the FMS displayed on the other. How can I seperate control between the two monitors?

For what it's worth, Vista has the same multi monitor setup but the panel specific to Nvidia is a little more specific. But perhaps there is a limit to the functionality of Vista?

Windows XP/Vista/7 all support multi-monitor. The problem he is having is laptops generally don't support multi-monitor from a hardware POV: They only support one monitor on the internal display, *or* on the expternal display, or on both at the same time.Cheers,- jahman.
