Sudden Problem With Visual "Stuttering"

Featured Replies

I recently did a full reinstall on a new PC running Win 7. Everything has been going wonderfully well (everything I dreamed of) until this evening when suddenly FS9.1 has acquired a serious problem of "stuttering." Every second or so the frame stops momentarily. FPS are normal (in the high 40's and 50's) but every second it just hesititates and it's driving me nuts.I did some tweaking just before it - installed a couple of aircraft as AI and reinstalled the wonderful scenery UNNT but those are things I've done before. I have tried deactivating everything from AI to all my scenery addons to turning off weather to using minimum specs and nothing makes any difference. Of course I uninstalled the things I had just added and I did not install directly into FS9 but into another folder so as far as I know there are no hidden files installed. (UNNT did modify some AP files but I can't see why that would cause a problem) I don't know if it's a random Win7 problem or what. All I know is that one minute FS9 was working like a dream and then it became a nightmare. My usual solution would be to do a system restore - but I just found out that Win7 only restores the C drive on which Windows is installed. I have FS9 installed on a seperate, clean D: drive and it won't give me the option of doing a restore on that drive. I have attempted to do a restore but it doesn't touch anything that's on the D drive. SighhhhhAny ideas would be much appreciated. The thought of doing another reinstall is enough to make me think thoughts that are sure to get Santa to put coal in my stocking tomorrow night!

I had a stutter problem in Win7, but only when clicking the mouse on the screen !I cured it by reinstalling my video card sofware and changing the drivers. I would go down that route before reinstalling FS9. Also many people get display issues in full screen mode but not in windowed mode. Try that too.Peter

Problem solved! When I reinstalled UNNT it put an old version of FSUIPC in my modules folder. I just replaced it with the newest version and everything is normal again. So Virginia, you see, there really IS a Santa Claus! :(
