Typically what could be done is to create a seasons.bgl file that calls out the "hard winter" textures. But seasons are constant for an entire month (17th to 16th in FS9, 1st to 31st in FSX) so if you you want it only for certain days, you would need to install/remove your modified seasons file as desired. I suppose a batch file could be written that automates it based on some variable (outside the sim).In FS9 I once did replacement seasons.bgl file for North America derived from actual data (one day a month) from the US National Snow and Ice Data Center, which provides daily data (it was uploaded about three days in arrears at the time).
