October 29, 200322 yr Do you mean a Splash Screen when you start up the sim? There is one. You should be seeng a splash screen when you fire up FS9. Personally I use the Splash Screen Randomizer and have quite a few splash screens installed. But you should be getting the default splash screen even if your not using the randomizer.Regards,Jim
October 29, 200322 yr LOL, I mean SPLASH when the plane dived into the water. In FS9, the message is just "CRASH".No big deal though, don't know why but this keeps me thinking for nearly a month..back to AFCADing...
October 29, 200322 yr If you're getting crashes on the water then:a) you're not flying an amphibian, or:( you are flying an amphibian, but your terminal rate of descent is too high.Alastair
October 29, 200322 yr I don't think that's what he's asking. The extent of splash effects are related to the sophistication of the graphics card, it's drivers and the slider settings in FS. Move the water effects to max and, providing you have a sufficiently good card, you should see splash effects.Allcott
October 29, 200322 yr Author Heheh - good question! In previous versions of MSFS, whenever you hit the water and weren't landing in an amphibian, you got the message "SPLASH". A gentle ditching attempt or going straight down from 20,000 feet. "SPLASH" was your greeting. In this (v9.0) version of MSFS, whenever you hit the water and aren't landing an amphibian, you get the message "CRASH".Both obviously mean the same thing, but the previous editions seemed to distinguish the land surfaces... when ditching a plane due to poor trans-Atlantic fuel management :) , it was nice to see the softer "splash" message rather than a harsh "crash" - even if it would have been a rather bumpy ride.Your seat cushion may be used as a flotation device,-Greg
