  2. Hi Bill, Happy New Year ! It was a bit startling when it happened, especially as the DC-3 and Sperry have been so reliable in the past ! If the Dakota needs to be returned for servicing, let me know ... Alastair
  3. Hi, I've used the MAAM-Sim DC-3 for years in FS2004, over countless hundreds of miles, and like to think that I know my way around the cockpit and the basic Sperry autopilot. However, having recently updated my PC to a Win7 64-bit system I came to fly the DC-3 today only to find that suddenly, when the Sperry Pilot is activated, the DC-3 flies 180degrees in the wrong direction ! This appears to be a problem limited to the heading hold element, as the Elevator and Aileron knobs appear to be working correctly and as before. Is this a problem anyone else has come across before, and is it likely to be a limitation related to Win 7 64-bit or some sort of corruption ? Apart from the obvious FS2004 reinstallation needed for registry purposes my set-up is exactly the same as when run on my WinXP system, with the DC-3/C-47 etc installation unchanged from the previous system (99% of my FS2004 files are on a separate drive.) Any help would be appreciated ! Cheers, Alastair
  4. Hi Mark, Good suggestion ! Here are the links for the revised files - they now come in both Word 93-97 .doc format and Word 2010 .docx format. European A4 format:http://www.mediafire...al_A4%20DOC.ziphttp://www.mediafire...l_A4%20DOCX.zip US Letter format:http://www.mediafire...al_US%20DOC.ziphttp://www.mediafire...l_US%20DOCX.zip Alastair
  5. Hi Mark, Sorry for the delay - I've been busy ! Here are the links: A4 versionhttp://www.mediafire.com/file/xjcsdha1fh16pvs/B25%20manual_A4.zip US Letter versionhttp://www.mediafire.com/file/h59dbhrqj2g25gr/B25%20manual_US.zip Alastair
  6. Hi Mark,If you're interested I've done my normal conversion and produced a printable Word document from the new V7 manual - available in both A4 (113pp) and US Letter (120pp) formats. Both are about 10Mb in size. As I now have access to Word 2010 (which can directly open HTML documents) these are near-identical to the original HTML version, other than minor image resizing and insertion of clean page breaks for printing.Alastair
  7. Hi,A small problem with the CD I was sent, it wouldn't automatically run, citing a missing "Index.htm" file.Opening the CD and running the appropriate EXE (for FS2004 in my case) did run the installation, however. This is on a WindowsXP SP3 system. Not a big deal for me, but you may want to keep an eye on whether this happens for anyone else.Cheers,Alastair
  8. Hi,As the P-38 Lightning was flying in the 1930s and 1940, I doubt that they had ILS installed. Whether Glacier Girl had an ILS installed after its rennovation, I don't know, but these people might:P-38 AssociationMy guess is that like many warbirds she is VFR only.Alastair
  9. Hi,Having just downloaded and installed ASE SP2 I note on the website that this needs a reactivation. As ASE appears to open exactly as it should, and seems to have been updated, what do I need to do, if anything, to reactivate ASE ?Thanks,Alastair
  10. Hi,There are several free packages at the main download sites, both P-51B and P-51D but in my opinion the best P-51Ds are the payware by A2A Simulations:WW2 Fighters (bundle of 5 different aircraft)WW2 Fighters Wings of Power P-51D SoloP-51D SoloFor both there are quite literally hundreds of different additional liveries, many hosted at the Sim Outhouse. For the earlier P-51B I can recommend the one by Sky Unlimited:Sky Unlimited P-51BAlastair
  11. Hi,As Windows 7 is a 64-bit program the original RealityXP GNS Garmin GPS units won't run, or, more precisely, the 16-bit Trainers won't operate. For aircraft so equipped (such as the GA aircraft from Dreamfleet) there shouldn't be any problems with the planes, you just won't have a working GPS.This can be "solved" by updating to the appropriate GNS WAAS unit, although you may need to update other gauges as well to get back full inter-gauge communication, but this is a different issue not related to Windows 7.Alastair
  12. Hi,I've uploaded the Zipped set of textures, which are available here:NetherlandsAF texturesCheers,Alastair

  14. Hi,Hopefully this should help:nHancer settingsScroll down for the images - the settings for FS2004 are very similar to those quoted for FSX.Cheers,Alastair
  15. Hi,I think all the Upgrade needs to do is validate the fact that you do have a legitimate version of AS6.5, after which the full ASA installation takes place. As ASA and AS6.5 are different programs there's no reason why AS6.5 shouldn't still work as it hasn't been changed.I still have both installed and both work. Alastair
  16. Hi,The DC-3 is a plane designed before WW2 and long, long before GPSs were ever thought of ! If you really cannot fly it without a GPS can I suggest that you do a bit of panel editing and add one of the numerous NAV/GPS switches already present in your other panels. The MAAM-Sim DC-3 does come with its own (basic) Sperry Autopilot, which does do what it says on the tin. As its not entirely clear, are you looking to add the switch to the default panel of the default FSX DC-3 or the default panel of the MAAM-Sim DC-3/R4D ? As this is the MAAM-Sim Support Forum I am assuming the latter.Cheers,Alastair

  18. Hi,I don't think it really matters, but if I had to make a choice the order would be:FS2004FS9.1 UpdateActive SkyIf you're using a copy of FS2004 bought recently it will almost certainly already contain the 9.1 update already.Alastair

  21. Hi Jim,If you start ASA before opening FS2004 the weather should update automatically once FS2004 has fully loaded. You shouldn't have to manually clear the weather in FS2004. If you tick the "lock to closest" box the nearest METAR to the airport you're at will supply the weather. It can take a few minutes for the weather to stabilize, but if the weather is supposed to be cloudy and you remain with the default Clear Weather then usually a click of the Refresh button (3rd from right at the top) will correct it.Like you I've downloaded some archived METARs from last summer, and as the directory where they're kept is buried in your Documents and Settings folder like the FS9.cfg, I've simply created a shortcut to the folder on my desktop. Although not strictly necessary as you can manually select earlier downloads from within ASA, it does provide an "overview" of what's available !C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\HiFi\ASA\WeatherCheers,Alastair
  22. Hi Jim,I used AS6.5 for quite a while and have recently "switched" to ASA (well, it was only released at Christmas !) and in general ASA is a good deal better. There's a better interface, and if you fly "ofline" like I do, downloading the appropriate "historical" METAR is easier than before. Using the same textures (in my case from Flight Environment) the weather appears more realistic IMHO.The only "downside" (other than the graphics problems some users are getting) is that as a complex package it uses rather more RAM when running than AS6.5 used to. As a general guide, AS6.5 used to use 20-30Mb wheras ASA seems to use 50-100Mb depending on the weather (i.e. quantity of cloud.)Alastair
  23. Hi,EGKA is included in the UK2000 Part 3 pack:UK2000 Part 3For FS2004 these are excellent value, especially at the current price, which is now discounted as its an "obsolete" product.UK2000 FS2004 purchase pageAlastair
