How do I ?

Featured Replies

Hi folks.I am currently reworking an airfield using ADE9X. This is still a work in progress. I have placed some new buildings and static aircraft but so far all I have in the new airfield scenery folder is the ADE9X bgl file no other bgl's and nothing at all in the texture folder. What do I do now so that I can then pass this new field onto some friends to try out? I am assuming that without any other bgl's and texture files they will not see any scenery at all.I am confused as to what happens now. I have obviously saved and compiled the field within ADE9X and see it ok in my own sim.

It depends on what you placed for objects. If you just placed default objects that come with FS you can just distribute the .bgl and everyone should see everything just fine, but if you used any custom objects like runway12 or EZ Scenery objects then your end users will need copies of the object libraries containing the objects you've used.In ADE9X, have you gotten into the "Library Object Manager" yet and "added objects"? It's under "Tools > Library Object Manager" and then you click the "add objects" button. If you haven't been in there yet, then you're probably just using default objects. If you have been in there and added objects you're going to have to tell your end users which object libraries you've added so they can download and install them as well, otherwise they simply won't see them. Aside from the missing objects, your distributed scenery should work fine. It's best not to distribute any 3rd party object libraries with your scenery, but to simply supply a list in your readme of the libraries required and let them download and install themselves. The reason for this is that you can cause problems with other sceneries your end user may have already had installed that were otherwise working fine prior to the installation of your scenery. This happens when scenery designers distribute object libraries, but fail to include the complete texture set associated with the object library (i.e. they include only textures for the objects they've used in their scenery).Jim

Hello Jim.Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.Yes, I have added other library objects as well as generic FS9 objects. Off the top of my head I think that there is an option in ADE9X that lets me see the location and 'name' of the objects I have added. So I will take a note of these and make a readme file for any end user.
